stupid question but i recently replaced the output shaft seal on the vdrive and yesterday i bolted up the drive shaft to the vdrive and i forgot the torque spec for the bolts, i used to just get them hand tight but i remebered there was a torque spec so i looked up the bolts and every site says...
what all is considered when selecting a torque converter in a v-drive? is it the same as selecting one for a passenger veh? compression ratio? cam? rear gear ect.. ? all tis v-drive stuff is new to me
I'm wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate on my horsepower/torque numbers? I never really thought about it until a friend asked me about how much power my motor is making and I really have no idea,,,here goes its a 454 .030 over standard deck height not decked, with 781 heads (no...

This is something that has confused me for a long time. I know that we (typically) size an impeller to absorb the max hp that the engine makes at whatever rpm that HP peak occurs.
I guess you would go slower if you sized the impeller to absorb the max torque the engine makes at whatever rpm that...
I am installing a new oil pan on my 455 and everyone seems to list the torque specs at anywhere from 10ftlb-15ftlb. That seems right for the 4 larger corner bolts but the small bolts on the side rails seem to start deflecting the pan rail at far less than that. The mondello guide simply list 1...
Where do you get you torque wrenches calibrated? I have an OEM 25 - 250 lb ft wrench and would like to get it recalibrated. Or should I just go buy a new SnapOn wrench as the dealer can get thiers recalibrated (I think)?
Which is more important in a jet boat?
Once I get the dual quad set up on this one I am going to look into starting a stroker for the Tahiti. I have noticed that the bigger the cubic inches on the stroker, the more they refer to the power being low-end and not up in the RPM range.
I'm not sure...
Are any of you guys aware of a general (or specific) value for torque per cubic inch, that indicates 100% VE for different compression ratios?
Looking for a format that reads similar to below. (values shown are guesstimates I pulled out of my ass)
1.00 ft.lbs./ci @ 8:1cr = 100%VE
1.05...
So I recently aquired a nice and unmolested BBC Gen IV block. I'm thinking about building this over time and eventually installing it in my jet boat or keeping it as a spare until my current motor finally dies. Luckily, I'm in a position that my current motor is running and I won't find myself...

Here's the link to the article, that is some serious twist:cool:
