20-30hp, as normal. Some more, some less. Depends on application, elevation, tailpipes, etc.

Full Throttle Marine did an excellent test on 496 exhausts. They didn't test CMIs, but all of the gains will be similar. None of them are more magical than the other.

    Default 496 E-tops

    Hey you guys!

We are getting a few sets in next week to do some tests with Powerboat Magazine on a 27 Nordic Thor. Give us a call and we can give you some numbers true gains! We are thinking they are going to be in the 35-40 HP gains and a 10% torque increase!

I’m curious on how the testing went with the new CMI E-Tops?

I have a 2009 Conquest Top Cat II with a 496 HO and I’m interested in a set of these.

Any update on these, or do we need to wait for the article to be published. If we have to wait, can I call and get details, very intereted in these.

My choice is now between the CMI E-Tops or the Dana's.

    Default 496 E-tops... The Answer!

Hey you guys... Sorry we have been busy so it has been hard finding the needed time to get you the info, but here it is!

We did a new set of 496 E-top (polished) headers on a Nordic 27 thor. Starting from the install, it took our mechainc about 6 hours to install and have running (powerboat magazine was doing a atricle and had to take many pictures). Our guys said it was a fairly easy kit to install or easier that others... The coolest thing I personnaly think is you get a full Stainless tubular header, but they do not require tail pipes so boats with s-pipes make power for much cheaper!

Performance increases we a killer kicker! CMI dynoed the 496 E-tops @ 40 honest HP increase w/ no computer modification and 10% torque. We personally do not recommend to re-map the computer due to fuel costs and its not really worth it!

Back to the Nordic, I do not know all the previous info, but here is what happened. The way the boat was proped, they were under in RPM so there was no prop change needed, they just got the full potential RPM @ about 5100... That particular boat picked up 3 MPH, and dropped a full second or more thru it time numbers (getting onto plane and mid range). For you guys who like the punchy sound, it will open it up and make her a little throatier for you!

Overall, the CMI 496 E-tops are the system to go with.. From affordable prices, easy install, to performance, you really can not go wrong with these kits! IF you have any questions please give us a call!! -Eric

    Default 496 upgrades..

9 MPH... That is a killer increase! It sounds that he was in a set up where he was down on prop pitch and power... I always and mostly recommend the header system and a K&N Filter system, but the (Crane or Scorpion) roller rockers would be a smart reliablitly move! They are not going to give you more power, but will stand up to anything you throw to that power package! -Eric
