I am trailering my 25' Daytona to the area of the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. We will be launching on the Mississippi and transitioning to the Ohio, hopefully Saturday June 11th if the water and weather cooperate. I have our trip pretty well mapped out from Cairo, IL to Pittsburgh, PA. I have a very informative guide book that I have read several times and made a ton of notes regarding fuel stops and possible places to stay. We should be traveling +/- 50-60mph and only running during daylight hours. We hope to complete the trip in +/- 4 days and will have my truck/trailer kind of chasing us and spending the nights with us wherever we end up each day. I have a pretty comprehensive list of bed/breakfast and motel/hotels on or very close to the water. I am looking for any suggestions, recommendations, etc on things/places to spend the night or NOT to spend the night. I may have a line on a houseboat to stay on one night in the Louisville area but not sure yet. We hope to run 10-12 hour days. I grew up running the Allegheny River north of Pittsburgh and I'm very familiar with the locks there but never been thru the locks on the Ohio. Thanks for any assistance.

Boating is like Biking across the country.... if you 'plan' on running 10-12 hours a day where is the time to see and have fun along the way? slow down and take in the sites..... might trying running about 6 hours (9am-3pm) and then you have time for cocktails at the end of the day, a nice dinner and getting to see and take in the surrounding area wherever you are staying..... On boats you can drink all day.... but on a bike thats kinda hard to do ----- without a cup holder! :wink2::wink2:

Thanks Paul, I fully understand what you are saying about slowing down but we need to get to Pittsburgh by mid week. We are meeting several friends/family there for the US Open golf tournament. Remember the days are very long that time of year so we will have plenty of daylight. We do plan to stop for some extended lunches and several places we are looking at staying are right on the water so hopefully we will have plenty of calm evenings on the water.

I wish we had more time to spend on the Ohio but 3-4 days towing to Cairo area and at least 4 long days towing back to NorCal from PA doesn't leave much time.

I live within 7 or 8 miles of OCC and 3 miles from a descent ramp on the Allegheny. If you let me know I'll pm my contact info. If you need somewhere to park the boat while you're here, I have plenty of space (acres of space) ,a shop if you want to change oil and take care of the tow vehicle before you head back. You get the idea, anything you need. Sounds like a fun trip. I can meet you with my hydro when you get close.

I really appreciate those offers but my folks live in Cheswick and have a few acres so we are all set. I would love to get out on the water together. I believe a bunch of us are taking boats to Pirates game Monday June 20 if you want to join us.
