The Southern California Speedboat Club is proud to announce

The 2017 ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals
Presented by
Nick Rose Insurance

August 5 & 6, 2017 Long Beach Marine Stadium

Redondo Beach, California – June, 2017
Starting in 1946, the Southern California Speedboat Club (SCSC) has been conducting races at the “birthplace” of powerboat racing on the West Coast, Long Beach Marine Stadium. Once a year, in August, the Southern California Speedboat Club stages the annual ARP Long Beach Sprint National Championships Presented by Nick Rose Insurance for Sprint Boat racing featuring 12 classes of the fastest Flatbottom, V-Bottom, Tunnel & Jet Boats from around the nation competing for bragging rights, titles and their share of prize money.

The ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals is presented by Nick Rose Insurance & Ecology Auto Parts, Ahern Rentals, Sea-Tow, Amsoil, Hotboat.com, Hot Rods & Hobbies & Rex Marine. The real beneficiaries however, are the thousands of spectators who turn out to experience the best high powered boat racing in the world.

There will be eleven separate classes of boats competing, including the 140+ mph water pounding K Racing Runabouts (K Boats) led by 2016 champion Duff Dailey driving "El Cid" #999 for owner Mike Stock from Boise, ID. These 2,500+ horsepower blown alcohol flatbottoms are guaranteed to have the entire crowd at the waters edge to marvel at their awesome power and speed .
Just as old as the Southern California Speedboat Club, the Crackerbox class with their unique configuration of flatbottom boat with a driver and rider sitting behind the 314 cubic inch V8’s makes this class the perennial crowd favorite as they thrash their 15.5 foot length hulls around the course racing rail to rail with everyone holding on for dear life. The Unblown Flat class aka a combined Super Stock & Pro Stock Flatbottom class, capable of reaching speeds over 120 mph down the straights will see some tremendous competition with a group of seasoned veterans take on some great up and comers like the defending 2016 National Champion, Greg Duff, #1, driving for John Grijalva, San Clemente, CA will rematch with the overall champion Greg Shirley driving #741 for Danny Loveless, Payson, UT and Ty Newton driving the "Wild Child" #80 for David Rankin, Hacienda Heights, CA

Once again, National Championships titles will be up for grabs in all classes. The always favorite Grand Nationals will see the 2016 defending National Champion Heath Hiebert, #369 driving "Corn Fed" from Bellflower, CA against a great field of drivers including Eric Sperry, #24, Canyon Lake, CA who's been pushing his Rayson Craft to the front of the pack all season. From the first drop of the green flag to the checkered the GN’s are sure to keep the crowd on their feet. Comp Jets will be scheduled to race for their National Championships led by the "legend" Harold Bruce, Lake Havasu, AZ driving for Terry Valore as well as the the Sportsman Extreme (SE) Runabouts which showcases limited Cubic Inch (350) spec flatbottoms. 2016 Sportsman Extreme Long Beach Sprint Nationals and National Champion Duff Dailey, #40 Stewart, FL driving "Slo Poke" will defend against a large contingent of able challengers. The Classic Outboard Runabouts and limited stock hydroplanes will also be on hand to showcase their classes and race for a national championship.

Once again in 2017 the ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals will have race teams from all over the country descending on Marine Stadium. The 100 plus boat team armada is set to wow the Long Beach crowds.

There will also be a vendor midway that will feature everything from souvenirs to food and beverage booths as well as a beer garden and don’t miss the classic V-drive display where meticulously restored V-drives from the yesteryear of racing will be parked for all to enjoy. Bring your family and friends and share the legacy that is Southern California Speedboat Club Sprint Boat racing at Marine Stadium.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. racing starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20.00 per adult, $10/child (under 5 are free). Military with active I.D. are also free! Parking is $20.00/vehicle/day. Please note that RV Parking on the North Side of the Stadium Only. Coolers are welcome but will be inspected as there is NO Alcohol permitted, there is a beer garden on-site.

Responded and corrected the press release. At the time of the press release I didn't know if we had any GPS-100 boats coming, since posting we have 6 signed up so far.

Sincerely,

Thank you Mr. Wallach,

I know you haven't any control on how many boats will show up in any specific class, but I just wanted to know for a fact that the GPS 100 class will always be welcomed and on the list for all your events especially the Long Beach and Burley shows. What I was thinking when I didn't see the GPS 100 class on your post was that maybe you didn't have enough "time" at these two events to fit them in.

So now I will proceed with the purchase of the Bezer. I look forward to making the Long Beach and Burley events and at the same time make them as our yearly family vacations. I'm positive this will be a relaxing time away from our weekly car racing routine!

I'd like to say after my posts on this matter, I sure hope I don't come across as a heel because the boat I'm purchasing won't be ready in time for this years Long Beach race; but we will be down there as spectators. I am looking forward to seeing this great show you put on. You'll definitely be seeing us out on the water next year for the 2018 racing season!!!

Again, thank you for informing me on this issue.

Tow Money and prize money for the K class.

That's great news Mike. Looks like I might have to build a K engine to take advantage of that next year. Drive safe and I will see you in the pits at LB.
