July 15th there is a raft off at Charity Island in the Saginaw Bay for those of you with vessels able to get out there. The Saginaw Bay does not mess around so consider that.

Launch ramps for the Muscapoot meet.. google map
1. Deckers Landing
2. Browns Resturaunt Harsens Island
3. Algonac DNR launch. Right across from the Kroger in Algonac.

Do not short yourself on fuel for this meet.

The Amato's set up a "Show N Shine" (think hot Road show but with boats) at the local Dairy Queen in Hastings on Friday night with the boats on the trailer. Saturday is the day on the lake West of Hastings, MI. This was done some years ago and was a great time. The locals really supported it.

Here's a quote with some info from MarcM from 2012 on Otsego Lake.

I have Fri-day off work. Heading to the County Park for camping, 1657 County Park Road, Gaylord, MI 49735 - north-west side of the lake. The State Park is full on the south-east side of the Otsego Lake. If you are camping, call the county park 989-732-6521 or 731-6448. Many hotels in town, let me know if you need any recommendations.

You can buy race fuel 110 octane and recreational fuel 90 octane (with no ethonol) at the Marithon Station on business 27, across from the State Police Post.

Otsego Lake is about 5 1/2 miles long and averages about 10-25 feet deep. The far north side of the lake is shallow so I try to stay away from the far north side (1/4 mile from end).

Both Launches are great on this Lake. Either use the State Park or the County Park. Both also have GREAT beaches and aminities. No issues hear with having nice gathering areas.... In previous years we gathered at the State Park Beech which was nice. Doing runs down to the County Park beech (back and forth) is fun also.

Wamplers Saturday

I would estimate late morning. Some people might start showing up as early as 9 am. Maybe consider the weather? Too bad yesterday's weather didn't wait until Saturday. When you pull in, you will see a large parking lot that opens to the lake and beach on the left. The ramp is further down, maybe another 1/3 mile. After you launch and idle through the curves out to the main body of the lake. Continue straight out a ways before following the shoreline. I heard it is shallow in there and someone damaged a propeller? I do not know this for fact. I suppose jets would not have to be as concerned <sarcasm for Shep and Dave>

Hayes State Park, in the heart of the Irish Hills, is located on Wamplers Lake and Round Lake great for fishing and boating. The park's close proximity to Michigan International Speedway, crafts and antique shows and Hidden Lake Gardens make Hayes State Park a prime tourist destination.

History of the Area

Hayes State Park is one of the system's oldest state parks. Dedicated in 1920's, the park originally was named Cedar Hill State Park. The name changed when the Hayes family donated land to the park with the condition that it be renamed to honor Walter J. Hayes, a Michigan senator. The park has gone through many changes, but the major constant has been the attraction of Michigan's visitors to the recreational waters of Wamplers Lake.
