No disrespect to anyone, but Steve Morris in one video says 1050 hp max with a procharged carb setup, yet here is a Steve Morris TT 509 with 2100HP. Blow through carb. I don't want to stir the pot, nor flog a dead horse, because actually I'm a fan of both systems. Old stuff still works, better than ever before, and newer technology ( efi ) well...it's the way of the future, certainly. :p

Yea a whole pot full of beaten dead horses to stirr.

Ok then I'm selling my Fast XFI with dual injector driver, dual 160 lb injectors, XIM COP ignition with LS2 Coils. Crank Trigger etc. And FAST Co2 wastegate controller

lol :)

I plan to try a blow thru on a 383 small block Chevy. When I'm done jacking with the Big Block

He was talking about that specific carb with single feed bowls. Dual feed bowls & larger fuel system will double that. But you know who will take anything from context even though he knows full well that 1050 can be doubled, even on pump gas.

This little blowthrough seems to be doing OK. 1660 before a headgasket problem and according to mr Miller 2000 would be no problem
But then maybe you boys are correct & he should throw all that in the trash & put a bucket full of wires & sensors&computer crap on there, cause it looks much to clean, not near enough clutter hil:)

I believe when Morris says 1050HP max with a single 4bbl is that was with a ProCharger and pump gas. This was a twin turbo deal, INTERCOOLED and most likely on race gas. Although the centrifs are much more effecient than a roots, they are in the toilet compared to a turbo when the boost gets that high. The centrif is no newbie on the scene any more than blow thrus are. Centrif were used at Indy in the Thrities, and were common as spit on aircraft during the war. They are only slightly newer than roots type superchargers.

One thing you have to remember with blow thru is, the entire inlet track in under pressure. The air going thru the carb is "packed" together. Under 14.7 psi boost, the carb can easily pass twice the CFM as a carb operating at normal atmoshere. The entire motor except the final exhaust outlet thinks the world is made up of a 41psi atmosphere in this example.

On a draw thru, the carbs are still passing air that is at normal atmosphere. The entire inlet tract leading to the "booster" needs a to be larger than on a blow thru.

This is the part I laugh at when I keep hearing "single carb blow thru" deal making huge HP. the higher the boost, the small the carb can be to make the same horsepower. On a draw thru, the higher the boost, the larger inlet has to be. Why do you think the injectors on a Top Fuel cars keep getting bigger. They have to feed the damn thing.

EFI isn't the future. Its here. Its been here for a little while. There a kids driving today that were brought home from the hospital when they were born, in a car with EFI. Its carbs that are soooooo yesterday.

Its only the cost and the in the field tuning that keeps EFI from completely taking over. Its only a matter of time before you will do everything you need to do on you EFI with nothing more than you cell phone. Tune, foward data to a manfacture, recieve downloads, and even link your EFI directly to them for diagnosis, and tuning, all from the lake. All the while some guy with his ProSystems blow thru is fumble flocking with his leaky ass float bowls and throttle shaft seal trying to keep fuel from being sprayed all the inside of his boat under 12 psi of boost pressure.:D

OK, I buy it. But since it is crap, and way behind the technology of a blow thru, I can only go $300. Roughly the price of a 600cfm 4150 carb. I would love to give you more, but I'd have to be crazy to. Why would I spend more than that on some thing I can replace (better) with a 1956 Holley.

Its being done now...download data log, e-mails and reload new tune. EFI is no where near as hard as people think.

And evidently, nowhere as good as we were being lead to think that it is. Crap can't even keep pace with a 50's carb. :)sphss. Next we will hear sundails and hourglasses are the latest in time keeping.
Did you ever round up a dyno sheet or vid of an EFI engine on pump gas to compare to the one I posted above?

LOL Ohh comon now, we all know that stacking a data log over a map and adjusting accordingly is way complicated. :D Fuel dripping off your elbows and buying bowl gaskets by the pallet is more fun. lol

noone's sayin efi cant stay with a carb bob, we're sayin its about 1/2 the price to do a carb vs efi, and the carb will perform the same:)bulb it'd take either 2 160lb injectors or 3 smaller 1's per intake runner to do what 1 900cfm c&s carb will do;) that's the whole point, you'd think as a gn racer you'd appreciate simple.

Anybody have some quick set JB weld and a drill set? Its close but not quite right still....
what, you trying to tune in the hsab's?:D i use solder to block hsab's and of course it is actually faster to drill 1 bigger if ya need to lean out at wot than wait on bigger bleeds to come in the mail:)bulb

you guys would cream your thongs if i printed out a afr datalog from a pass with the c&s carb, and we did nothing but set the idle mixture and idle rpms, that's allllllllll, maintains a perfect 11.3afr while in boost, no matter the boost level, at 18lbs at 11.3 at 28lbs 11.5. gets richer the more boost you give it.
