Looking at purchasing a '96 Advantage Sport Cat. The boat has an 500 HP w/ 671 B&M First time boat buyer. Please let me know the pros and cons to this boat. Thanks For Your Help

I encouraged a buddy to purchase one with a HP500. Big mistake! Hippity Hop is a serious undstatement. It would never settle down and almost dangerous at speed. Spoke with Advantage and they said it was really a 19.5 hull with a larger top deck. They did say it was a "short" boat and that is how "short" boats drive. Build quality was great with nice gel coat. Many guys love the 22 Sportcat. I highly reccommend you drive one before you buy. My $.02

BTW Is it orange?

Send Craig a message at www.justanothertoy.com.

He has a 22 Advantage with a Blown Peto motor, I believe he has seen 119mph (or something crazy like that). He's very knowledgable on these boats as well and can definitely help you out.

hate to agree two friends had a 22 and a 28 hopped....the 28 put flippers{trim tabs] on it to keep it from hopping out of the lake...

If the 28 was hopping, something was way out of wack. Mine will only hop at very low speeds when it's about to come off plane. When getting on plane, it settles as soon as air gets under the boat, and is rock solid way into the triple digits. I have a center tab but never use it, it simply stays in the up position.
