A friend of mine has some boat headers with square ports. Will these fit round port heads on the 460 BBF. Bolt pattern looks the same.

Same, but differant

I don't know about the Fords, but BBC does the same thing in reverse. The heads are squared with radii in the corners, and most BBC header flanges/tubes are round. Surprisingly, they do work just fine, but the gaskets must be chosen carefully or they'll leak. Going from round to square MAY be restrictive in the corners unless the square hole in the flange is larger than the round exhaust port... Then again, on the Fords there may be headers made round and/or square for specific heads..... You know, one of Ford's better ideas.....

Might be a set of Sandersons, which haven't been made for well over ten years, maybe over twenty. Today, Sanderson Headers is big in the custom rod market and are still right next door to Roy Brizzio's custom rod shop in San Bruno, CA. (Sanderson might still make boat headers by special order only, but I cant be sure.)

If your headers are the Sandersons with the huge square exhaust header flange then yes you might have a leak at one of the top corners of the header flange. You will probably have the leak with any passenger car head, and you might not with the taller SCJ exhaust port. If you have passenger car ports then you might need a spacer between the header flange and the cylinder head which "bridges" the differences in shape between the two parts.

The Sanderson's primary tubes wrap closely over the valve covers of the engine, which means that a simple valve adjustment necessitates removing the headers just to get the valve covers off. Most people detest that...along with chasing exhaust leaks.

I like them. If you don't use them then I might be interested in picking them up.

Now thats funny. they suck, they leak, hard to work on the engine, wanna sell em. :)devil
Haha! :) Never did I say that they suck! They are fine headers, that is, I do like them.

Also, I noted the observations (read: complaints) that most OTHER people make about them. With that in mind, Bob, imagine if I simply stated, "they are fine headers and they can be made to work.". There's a 90% chance that the OP would come back online and scream, "these things suck! They leak, and I can't even adjust my valves unless I take the headers off! Im buying exhaust gaskets by the pallet now!"

Then how would I have looked? ;)

Norcal, They are fine headers. GN7 is certain of this. ;) AND if you decide to not run them please let me know

I knew what you meant and I am certain Norcal did as well. In fact you may have talked them up enough to lose the purchase. ;)
It just read kind of funny to me at the time. I have heard the very thing said at the swap meets numberous times. Always by the potential buyer, and always followed by the "how much you asking?" ust made me chuckle alittle.:p But yes, you did give him a complete run down on the manifolds, and I doubt many here knew much about them. I sure as hell didn't. Glad to see your still out there Paul. :)hand
