Just bought a set of oval port Edelbrock heads CHEAP, they are the late version and in excellent shape and have had no grinding. I am putting them on a 427 out of a Haskel pickel I just bought. No matter what they are better than the heads that were on it, 241s. They are suposed to have 110 chambers but look bigger, I can CC them but it is easier to ask. How easily can power be made with them and what has to be done to get them to flow?

I just ran across a set of these a guy has on a 502 I am building. One casting had a crack externally. Welded it up. Long story. If he wants to wait another couple weeks the dyno will be up and going and I can tell you.

On a decent build, 427 with some compression and rpm they should be able to "support" ~650hp or more depending on the details of the build.

If you are throwing these on a existing engine build, be carefull. Depending on the compression and the piston manufacture you can run into interference, specifically around the spark plug hump, and possibly around the outside of the dome.

What pistons are you running?
Also might give some thought to the quality of the stock valves when you build a marine engine. I have a set that came off an engine when he broke an exhaust valve, putting all new exhaust valves in the heads to try and keep that from being a problem.

GN is right...the 241 is an open chamber head and if the piston has a dome, you might have problems with the Edelbrock chamber.

What pistons are you running?
They are TRW domed closed chamber pistons. I did clay up the piston with out a gasket and checked the dome , it had enough clearence to not even measure the clay. Now all I have to do is get the valve reliefs opened up for a large hydraulic roller. If the heads arent the 110s I'll have a low copression issue. The previous owner decided to run lots of water into the motor so Mark is rehoning the block.

2.190... maybe I was drinking when I threw these things together. I believe the ones I have are 2.250/ 1.880
Of course this engine "just had a little blow bye". When I took the oil pan off the windage tray had several chunks out of it and a dozen pieces were in the pan and had been run like that for quite a while. The rods almost spun, one rod bearing had turned 1/2 turn, the mains were ate up of course, the heads had been beat to hell, detonated its ass off, etc. But it just had a little blow by.
Oh, the point to that story is someone may have put bigger intake valves in it.

Oh, if memory serves Edelbrock said something about the spark plug location with dome pistons. I went to the Edelbrock website to find specs/ gasket numbers, etc and downloaded their tech sheet.
Check spark plug clearance to dome.

Its not just the plug, but the blob the plug is screwed into to. The piston won't hit just the plug, it will have a severe interference with the head itself. Notice the rather large relief for the plug lump instead a small "fire slot" for plug clearance.
The OP's closed chambered heads will clear with no trouble.
Now when you get to the Edelbrock TBI head 100 CC head, thats a whole other can of worms.
