We finally got my 72 volt cart running with the ac drive system. We took it out behind the boat overflow waiting area at Saguaro last Saturday. It ran great up every hill with four people and a cooler. All you hear are the tires. We went to 4 peaks road and ran around for a while on Sunday morning but the wives/kids were too cold. We did about 27 miles in the dirt without any problems. I'm working on some video but here is a pic for now.

We hope to start on the cage tonight. Right now we have it set at 29mph but the controller is programmable. I wanted to do a bunch of testing with it set at 29 then re-program and see how it does set at upper 30's-low 40's. I beat the living hell out of it last weekend and only blew out the front shocks. We thought that would happen because each one of the six 12v batteries weighs 108lbs.
They were working on that houseboat while we were there. Probably about 10-12 people working on it. I don't know what they are doing.

That is where I purchased this system. It is called Hi Perfomance Golf Cars. They are working on a 96volt system that can be retro-fitted into a VW. Bill is the owner/engineer and he is super cool. They aren't cheap but it runs fantastic. I will have this licensed for the street hopefully very soon.

What kind of controller are you using, you said programmable if its an "All Trax" carry a fire extinguisher I have had 2 catch on fire. I'm running 48v club car getting 34mph with standard gears.

thats the place. i've been there a few times and refuse to take one for a test ride. i know if i drive one, i'll want one. i need another vehicle like i need another wife.

this is a completely different animal. 3 phase AC motor with a VFD if I'm not mistaken. they convert the DC to 3 phase AC and use an AC (not DC) motor.

It is a Curtis controller(I think 650amp) and I did have a fire extinguisher just in case. The controller didn't even get warm running up a TON of hills. The motor got a little warm but not bad at all. We are going to install an auxillary fan beside the motor just to be safe. What motor/controller/cables/tire size are you running to get 34mph without gears? What kind of range do you get?

That is the way I understand it also. I am learning more about it every day. It smokes the 23" tires I have on it now.

As far as range never really check I should. I just put new batteries in their used power-stride this time and I don't think there as good as Trojans. Do you have a link or # to this company building 72 volts carts?

For a minute there I thought yu put a trolling motor on the Silhouette. That looks cool. Are you building it at your house. I woould like to see it run. Watch out for the old farts from sun lakes, they might run you over, they do a blistering 30 in their 6,000 pound Cad's.

I don't need to make the Silhouette any heavier, it's slow enough. I hope to get the cart over to my buddies shop where he has a few benders tonight. I have it at our little shop in Tempe right now. Give me a call, I'll be happy to take you for a ride. Should be interesting when I get this thing up around 40mph and pass all the old farts. Hope they don't wreck trying to figure out what it is. So, what if you built one like the Can Am spider? Built a carbon fiber/kevlar tub, and the same with a canopy style cockpit to sit in. Make it very arrow dynamic. Should just slip through the air. Might be able to hit some high speeds with it, maybe freeway speeds. Infuse the tub and cockpit, it would be strong and light. Use solar pannels to charge the batteries.
