So I tore the floors and 1/4 stringers and the center stringer out of my Tahiti today and found something I did not like.. the center stringer was twisted and not set in the center of the boat. not only that it was also only glassed down in 12 in sections about 12in apart. best of all as I stated to grinding away all the old glass I found spots about 12in long that was all resin and no glass in it at all.. These areas were cracked so I ground out the cracks and feathered it out.. is there anything I should do or look out for before epoxying the new stringer down and glassing it all the way in?? thanks and this is my first thread post you guys have been a very big help so far ..:hmmm:

so is it normal for the pump inlet and transom cutout to be 3/4 in off center?? is this designed into it or sloppy work? thanks again

Welcome to the boards... I can't really help answer your questions. Adding pics of what your looking at may spark some interesting responses..:D

The center of the boat is found by measuring the bottom of the hull, on the surface of the boat. Not the inside. That's not to say it's off center, but a tape in the inside of the hull, stringer to stringer, doesn't mean a thing. 5-6 boats a day in the 70s...lots of shit got by. ;)

That center stringer only holds the floor up, nothing else, on a short stringer boat.

We left Tahiti in '74, don't know who was working there in the remaining years of the 70's.
