I saw this mentioned in HawaiianJets' thread. I have never heard of it. Obviously, removing the intake and having it machined is the preferable way of doing it. With that being said, has anyone had any experience with these? I just finished rigging the boat and didn't even realize there was not a shoe until I got under the boat to swap out the rock grate. This would be a quick and easy alternative to stripping the boat down again.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

I bought that set up from ARS marine a few years back in my jet boat days.
I installed it on my blown 1980 bahner bubble deck., with a berkley jg pump droop and place diverter
Awesome hardware, fast delivery, ez instructions and gained me 5mph:)devil

Awesome set up if you dont want to go down the road of removing your intake.

i've used the hi-tech kit and it really did wonders for my taylor sj, i did have to have the shoe milled a couple times to get it right, they come with @ a 1/2 thick shoe, and when it was all said and done, we'd almost cut it in half. i ended up at 1/8th below keel. boat was a monster to 83 but would go into overcharge, and had a terrible shut-down, down right scarryyyy:)sphss but i would do it again, it worked.

Agreed. A bad shut down is not good, but I don't think one persons bad shut down should be the norm. At least I hope not. Its got to be worth a try.

yeah, don't let me sway ya away due to my shutdown, i was still feeding the pump way to much water , on purpose, it was a cove racer.

Any hardware below the keel will likely give you a hairy shut down, you might need to check and see what you have to work with, as far as keel depth. A friend has one on a Taylor 20 BR, when He lets off the power, it makes a hard right turn. He needs to re evaluate the hardware, cause he just got it in the water in October last year. Many boats need to have glass ground off the bottom, to clear the ride-plate, with a standard shoe/ride plate set-up. Just think how much further an add-on shoe would be hanging down.

The add-on-shoe and ride plate kits are not a bolt it on, gain 5 mph, get perfect handling, etc kit. They are just like many other products available for the jet boat enthusiast. They are a good piece to work with. Some need machined for that application, others work as is. The shoes of the kit can be machined to a tapered, flat or back cut configuration. Our JC/JG & E-Shoe Kits come with a slight back cut effect so as to not get the shoe too low in the water for most boats. On some, it will be too low, on others it will need more bite. You can give the boat less shoe by grinding up on the bottom side of the shoe, and raising the biting edge. You can give it more bite by grinding down on the top side of the shoe and lowering the biting edge. Some boats don't need a shoe at all, but benifit a great deal from the addition of a ride plate. These kits make it very easy to add a ride plate. As always, the best way is to pull the intake, shoe it and reset it. But there are a lot of people who can not afford or just don't want to get that involved in doing it that way. This kit is made expecially for them. How do you put a ride plate on without installing a shoe? Nobody ever said anything like this in my ride plate thread. That would be perfect for me since I have the ride plate and cradle, but strangely no shoe. But I can't see how it could be strong enough with out the shoe. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here.:)Unsure

I really should have installed a shoe on the intake when I had it out, but I fall into the not enough money group mentioned above. Thank you.

they're tuff to get right, but when you do it really helps a boat without a decent shoe/ride plate. i bet i pulled mine off 4 times before i found a sweet spot, but duane did tell me up frt i was gonna have to do a lil work to make it right, so i went at the task knowing that :)bulb I DID PICK UP 6MPH WITH 1, AND THAT'S NO SHIT ;) it fed my lil 12je a ton of h2o but i had the hp to move it out the nozzle and it's hell to make a 12je mean, and it was :|err:|err i sawed a ton of vhull'd boats runnin dominators, berks etc. and did it with the bastard child of the berkeley pump line :)devil:D

your chebby powered vhull wouldn't have even held that boat to half track;) :D no chebby lake vhulls ever got in frt of that boat racing in the coves, and that's NO SHIT;)

I will NOT being doing the adapt a shoe and ride plate.
My GPS numbers are very respectable for an out of the box setup. I think I will play with some loaders and save the shoe and ride plate for this winters pump refresh (Maybe a set back also).
