Looking for some ideas on fuel injection, there are a ton of products out there. What products are the best performing, easiest to install, least expensive, any issue with programming. Anything you would recommend for the below 500 hp build. The engine is a 351w stroked to 408, 11-1 compression, full hyd roller. Original motor was a carbureted 302. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I just went through this on my 582 chevy. I used Holley HP EFI, an accufab 4 barrel throttle body and an MSD distributor with the Holley 36-1 crank trigger with MSD Digital 7531 Ignition box. Holley has by far the simplest wiring and programming. You will need returns bungs on your fuel tanks, you will need a special electric fuel pump for about 43psi, you will need to have an O2 sensor bung in your exhaust as well that cannot get wet.

Plan on spending 5-10k to do it correctly. I say 5-10k because unless you have the nice double wall jacketed headers you'll need to buy those and they are not cheap. Otherwise, buy a carb and go boating.

EFI Advantage?

What am I missing here? I understand for emissions and mileage in a vehicle the advantage of computer controls but for a boat? Enlighten me oh knowledgeable ones.

Example being a big cubic inch motor with a good sized cam, the problem you’ll have is getting it to idle down low. Like my situation. A have a 582 bbc. Makes 850 hp. A carb on a motor like this won’t idle in and out of gear with an outdrive at 800 rpm. With fuel injection you can make it idle at 700-750 and not worry about lack of signal to keep the motor running. Idle air control valve, variable timing all makes it able to idle down low.
