We are thinking of adding an air compressor to the boat to blow up tubes and rafts. Should it be mounted under the hatch? What size and brand of compressor should I be looking at? How much should I expect to spend?

I just bought a portable unit. Very small package in nice canvas bag and 16' hose with quick release attachments. 12v connect. Can use it in the boat, car, Ranger, etc...made by a company caled "Slime" for $59 at Autozone. Will fill up a big raft in like a minute.

Did this in my truck...

I run a hose off my truck compressor (for my train horn) to the gas door. So if you flip the door open you can hook up the hose and fill up tires/ tubes/ blow up dolls.

I got a compressor from pep boys for about $80 bucks, they are preset to about 125 psi so they shut off and fill on auto. Just by pass with toggle switch under the hatch for when not needed. You can get a one gallon tank from godfathercustoms.com for about $40(depending how big you want). One gallon should be plenty for what your doing. Then go to Ace Hardware and pick up some hoses, fittings, toggle switch, wire and you'll have a fast fill up station for under $175.

I put a train horn on my boat under the hatch. I had WIred for Sound install it, but you can buy a combo on Ebay for a great price (250-300) these days which includes everything you need. Less if you don't want the train horn. I must say, it is probably the best thing I hot for the boat, but when you've had a couple you have to remember to stay away from that button. It also comes in really handy when the jetski's cut in front of you

I always thought it would be killer to have one on the boat. can you hear it really good with the hatch down?
Siege engineering was the hot ticket for Ebay kits but there not really around anymore. I got my horns and valves from them.

You can hear it pretty good with the hatch down, but nothing like when the hatch is up. It does tick a lot of people off though. I am truly waiting for the day I get boarded and the sherriff asks about a horn.
