Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing how a one wire altanator is hooked up? Im running a AC Delco ALT and a silinoid(not attached to starter) and its not charging the battery, the alt is good and so is the battery..Any thoughts lol?????

you literally run the wire to the battery... i dunno how much simpler it could get.

The thing to remember about 1-wire alternators is that they need a jump in RPM to "Excite" them into charging. A lot of times, just starting the motor and letting it idle doesn't do the trick. Try rapping the throttle and see if the voltage to the battery jumps up.

Run the alt one wire to the silinoid where the battery + cable from the battery hooks up. With this setup, you should be able to start the engine, disconnect the battery + cable at the battery and the engine should still run off the alternator.

Thanks guys, i kinda had a idea i just wanted to make sure...If i didnt hook the wire to the silinoid and just ran the wire stright to the battery would that cause a problem?

You said that you are not charging the battery. By hooking it up to the silinoid you can check to see if the alt is putting out by disconnecting the battery cable at the battery.

I ran mine directly from the alternator to the +bat terminal on the starter. Ive ran it that way for years with no problems I personally think it makes for a cleaner look then a bunch of wires on the batt. Hope this helps, good luck!!
