Hi all - I recently purchased a 1975 Sleekcraft Rebel with a stroked 455 Olds and Jaccuzi 12YJ jet for it's powertrain. I have already gotten some good advice reading posts in this great forum but haven't found the answer to this one........
I won't to do so fine tuning to the motor and need to know if I need to do this at the lake as to not damage the pump? Any advice will be much appreciated. Can't wait to get this badboy out for some wet fun.
Thanks!!:D

If you intend to run the boat out of water it's best to disconnect the driveline. With the pump NOT spinning you can run the engine (with a garden hose) all day......or until your neighbors call the cops.

Not to be a jerk or anything but you didnt come across "running a jet out of the water" or running a jet on the trailer"? Re-search using those words and there are threads upon threads regarding the subject. its been beat like a rednecks old woman in the jet forum..

Edit:

Heres one: http://www.performanceboats.com//showthread.php?t=36466&highlight=running+trailer

and another:" http://www.performanceboats.com//showthread.php?t=28215&highlight=running+trailer

and another: http://www.performanceboats.com//showthread.php?t=26252&highlight=running+trailer

if those three dont answer all the questions that would come up then i would be real curious to hear any other opinions on the matter.

Welcome, I have the same setup but mine is a 73. I've been using a Y in the hoses to my garden hose for 36 years and I haven't had any probelms. I also haven't reved it up over 2000 rpm. Good Luck.

Do you have any pics of yours?:)hand

A lot of debate on running out of the water!!!! If you can disconnect the pump it will save the pump and wear ring
