Been in the area since the 70's. Long way to water. Great weather. Great Golf. Decent schools. A little slower moving than most places. Careful of course on the area of town you move to, we all have those parts of town. The rat race is only an hour to the north if ya need that:D

Ask away my post count is down a bit.

What areas should I avoid?
What's the cost of living compared to Phoenix area?
How far to the nearest lake :D

In addition to the areas to avoid, what areas should I look in for housing? Going to be renting for a bit, what's rent like for a decent place on a large lot?

It sort of goes in small areas all over town.

Cost of living about the same maybe a little less.

What part of town you going to be working in? Traffic can get abit crazy.

Nearest lake. Probably Canyon, East of Apache Junction. Theres 7-8 lakes within a 3-4 hour drive. And Yuma, Parker and of course Havizoo are not to far.

I'll be working all over town, I'm a commercial plumber/fitter so my office is whatever we're building. I'm at Motel 6 on Ina road right now, this area looks a little suspect. I'm looking for a quiet area, large lot or acreage, close enough to everything that it's not an ordeal to go see a movie, shopping, etc, but far enough away to ignore it.

Oro Valley is nice. There are plenty of areas that I think you would like in the area that you are in now. Just gotta go a bit further east and/or south. Lots of land for sale there or home with land and for very reasonable prices.

Tucson SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! I went to UofA in 96 for 1 semester and had to get the F out of there. Tucson SUCKS! Im telling you right now you would be better off living in Phx and making the commute to and from work. Tucson SUCKS! There I said it. Phx may be more crowded but its go a whole lot MORE to offer than Tucson. DONT MOVE TO TUCSON. I cant think of a worse place in AZ unless you live in Gila Bend. Sorry if I am offending anyone in Tucson but I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Oh yeah if you move to Tucson you should just sell your boat now because theres NO lakes in Tucson. Seriously even if this job pays great I wouldnt do it if you like to boat or have any fun for that matter. If you are over 25yrs of age there is nothing to do. Its a college town and thats it. Im just sayin.:)bulb:D

Just what is it that Phoenix has for those who are 25 or older to do that Tucson does not?

We also have Mt. Lemon which is a great place to go in the summer to get out of the heat and snow skiing in the summer that's only a 35 mi trip from where I live. I am a third generation Tucsonan and I think the exact oppisate. You couldnt pay me to live in that smog infested, traffic congested, close to becoming a mini L.A. shithole they call Phoenix. I can get to Sag in a little over 2 hrs.long to . Yet there are people in Phoenix that takes them an hour to get there. Big whooppie. And Apache is a great lake and it takes just as long to get there from Phoenix as it does Tucson. The views in Tucson are way nicer in Tucson than Phoenix.

That area is a little shady. Be careful with your stuff there at the Motel 6. Being right of the freeway it can get exciting.

One thing you are about a half a mile from Hooters its East on Ina behind the Ride Now Motorcycle shop. Its hooked to the BedRocks Bowling alley.

There are some nice older ranch homes up Ina between Shannon and La Canada. North and Southside of Ina Road. Oro Valley is nice but pretty stuffy. Staying on the Northside keeps the lakes closer.

And Phoenix :(:( Tucson, modern day version of the Hatfields and McCoys:):)punch

I didnt mean to get your panties in a bunch!:D I guess I was a little harsh on Tucson. Since we moved to Durango CO last year everything in the city just kind of dosent look as good ya know? If your ever up this way let me know. I will show you around. The lakes up here are BEAUTIFUL.
Thanks for leaving Tucson, Dominator, You and PHX deserve each other:)hand
Your welcome.:)hand I live in a much better place then Phx now. Just have the home in Chandler and family in Scottsdale now. You too should come up to Durango sometime its amazing.

I wasnt being serious. If you knew me you would know that for sure. Can you send me pics of these boats you speak of? I would love to see the two of the baddest boats on the west coast that reside in Tucson. Silverbell lake?:p

Well ones a 40 flat deck skater all done up new. I've only seen the pics but It is one bad A$$ boat. The Other? Not sure. IS Predator the same boat???

Domi Domi Domi. Always stirring the pot.lol

I have Family in Tucson. Lots of family & that's why I'm up here in the smog:p
Thankfully I'm in Mesa. Not Peanix.:D

Tucson has some killer properties. If it wasn't so far from the 3 local lakes I go to, I'd be there riding horses every other day! Plus having a crapload of family there. I like the space in between myself and them. Don't get me wrong. There all good people. I'm the White Sheep in the Family:D They wont let me forget that.

If I were in Tucson I'd be partying with AZMADELLA. That Man knows how to party:)devil Good people fo sho!

Any city in AZ has to be better than what Cali has become.

See Skip? Great boat guys here! Like I told you!

I like Casa Grande. don't miss Chandler at all! I can be in downtown Phoenix in 45 or Tucson in 45. More laid back lifestyle, AND can be to Sag in just under an hour, Bartlett a tad more than that, and I'm TOLD I can be to Apache or Roosevelt pretty quick on some obscure route.

The River? Big River or Blythe either one is three to three and a half hours. Have never done the Yuma thing, but I imagine about the same.

Good luck on the decision and give my love to Christi!

Well I guess that sums it up there pesky varmit. You forgot the shitty ass roads, lack of freeways/expressways and snowbird drivers! All in all it's a nice place to live and raise a family. I am partial to the far NE side. I don't like the NW, Oro Valley has a freaky police force, South side suks and theres lots of "crackville" areas spread within. I've worked for the power company here for over 23 years and have been in just about every area at all times of day or nite. Pueblo gardens is my favorite :)devil Having 3 boats as of yesterday, the lack of water near does suk!!!
