Make sure you build a cage that is legal for what ever class your looking at. A cage is no where to cut corners, in both my drag cars, I had full tube chassis, and cage, including a " funny car " style cage around the driver. There are rules governing where the different tubes need to be, tube diameter and thickness, location of harness attaching points, type of welds that are acceptable, etc.. Seat location, drivers view, ability to reach all the controls, ease of entry and exit are among other things that need to be considered when building a safe and enjoyable ride.

You will need to be able to "fishmouth" all the tubes if you plan on doing the installation, which is not easy. No way a chassis builder can furnish you the tubes ready to install. Kits are available for most popular vehicles. Check out Alston, they are up in your area, and for a complete deal there is Sarmento's in Yuba City, and Chassis Design in Castro Valley.

check check and double check.... thanks Larry. :))THumbsUp built a few tube chassis in my lifetime already, just dont have a tube bender any longer. Ive been working with Alston on this build all along, cause they are local. They give me alot of ideas believe me. Also Tim McAmis and Art Morrison chassis builders too - wealth of information and direction. BUT.... I want to build it, thats the part I enjoy, just need some help with the bending and fitting as it goes together. It has to go thru the dash and under the dash and all around other parts to make it all fit nicely and "stealth-fully". I have a plan I just need to work the plan...

I suppose if I have to haul the old girl someplace to do that I will have to do that. But its going to be a totally custom roll cage no matter how it turns out.

still looking...;)

Let me run it by my roommate (Scott Zimmerman). He works out of his garage in Antioch but may be interested in doing some work outside of his house. I'm sure it depends on where he needs to go and what he needs to bring though if he's interested. He has everything needed to do cages, etc.... and his work is outstanding! You won't be disappointed! Give me some info on vehicle, class, how many points, etc.....
