Im talking to a guy that has a tunnel ram for sale with an adapter to convert it from a dual to a single carb intake. I already have a tunnel ram, so he said he would consider selling just the adapter but neither of us know what its worth. I cant find one online to compare so does anyone know what the exact part name is and or an average price? Plus he is about 3 hours away so if there is somewhere online or in town that I could find one that info would be great too.

I'd stay with the dual carb setup. A lot of times the single carb on a tunnel ram is plagued with fuel distribution problems.

Specially that one! Weiand did not make that. They made a single carb Hi Ram, but never made a single carb Pro Ram. I don't see how it can work. The carb is mounted where the balance channel between the carb plenums and floor of that thing must be super shallow.
I'd stay far away from the POS.

I was wondering if that would be an issue. I'm having the hardest time getting this thing dialed in and I have a feeling that the dual carb tunnel ram setup is not helping my cause. It clearly worked before I had it and it works for me sometimes. Just not consistently. I think with my mechanical aptitude I would be best off swapping the intake out to a regular single intake. I just really like the look of the tunnel ram.

X2,X3,X4, & X5 I'd change the quote to "I'd stay with a Dual carb setup. ALL Cast Single Tunnel Rams have fuel distribution problems".

What carbs are you running model and CFM?
What have you done to them ?
What are your tuning problems?

I have Edelbrock Performer 1407 750CFM. All that I have done to them is replaced the needle and seat, plunger, and cleaned the shit out of them. Im surprised the motor was getting any fuel at all before the first time I cleaned them. To make a long story short....got a used motor that ended up being thrashed, replaced alot of major components but forgot to torque 1 rod bolt and threw a rod(first time working on an engine). Got another short block, replaced damn near everything and just cant get it to stay running. New plugs, New MSD ignition, clean carbs, all engine components new except for pistons(cleaned with new rings)and connecting rods. I was just about to get a timing gun on the thing but the starter took a dump on me. So all in all I know the timing is off a little but I should still be able to get it started everytime to do some adjustments. I get it to a good starting point and sometimes it works...sometimes it doesnt. Then to make it even worse when it does start every time, it never does once i get to the lake. Any thoughts?

The distributor is a tooth off.

Maybe a reach. But check for a vacuum leak. If you want to drag it to Colfax, I will give you a hand.

Probably a stupid question but how can it be a tooth off with the keyway. Isn't it correct or 180* off?
Rotor phasing ..... check the relationship between the rotor tip and the distributor cap to make sure they are lined up

when I first got my boat it ran like shit. I decided that I would blame everything on the t/r and duals so I put on a single with a regular intake till I sorted out all the problems with the boat. that included a rag floating inside the gas tank , seized distributor and so on . when the boat was dialed in then I put the t/r back on . no problems with it at all

Weiand did make that top.Its sitting on a Weiand "Hole Shot" manifold.That setup works great.I set the NJBA Mod Jet drag record with this setup years ago. :))THumbsUp:wink2:

Well, I have two of the base manifolds and they are both called Pro Rams. Never heard of a Weiand Holeshot. Maybe that's what they called them when they bolted that POS top to them. I wouldn't bolt that top to a lawn mower.

Well, I have two of the base manifolds and they are both called Pro Rams. Never heard of a Weiand Holeshot. Maybe that's what they called them when they bolted that POS top to them. I wouldn't bolt that top to a lawn mower.
So...dual quads on a lawnmower run better?

dual quads, 4-48 IDA Webers, roots blowers. Anything is better than a single carb tunnel ram. ANYTHING!

Stick with the duals and get some help setting everything up. I offered. But, maybe you know someone closer and better.
