Arizona Registration - no titles? What about Texas?

I'm buying a boat in Arizona that doesn't have a "title" according to the owner and according to websites i've found, they dont require them.

This is my first boat in Texas. The bank (in oklahoma) is asking for the title and says that all boats have titles. So how do I go about getting a title for it? Do I need to worry about it?

I paid off my boat a while back. I asked for the title and they said AZ doesn't have them. Same with my Rhino when I biught it used. My boss just boought a used Harley from a guy in AZ. He had to pay over $1,200 in fees to register it in CA. About $700 went back to AZ for some reason. :)sphss

That's nuts!
The registration serves as the title as far as I know.
There is no title for boats in AZ.
So what about Texas? I used to have jetski's but can't remember if they had titles or some kind of boaters registration. I'm all over Texas Parks & Wildlifes Site right now, not finding anything yet.
I just sold my boat to a guy in Texas. He had some forms that I can't recall. Signed over my boat and trailer registration and that was it!

Hrm... I wonder if I can hit up a TPW office before I hit the road to Arizona so i make sure the seller has everything signed.
I bought a daytona in april that was registed in AZ. I had to have a HIN inspection, I paid $20 title fee and $55 registration fee here in NV. All I had to provide was the card from the registration that signed over the ownership to me, and a signed bill of sale. 4 weeks later I had a NV title in my name...
When you sell a boat here in AZ, all you do is sign the back of the registration. The trailer has to be notarized though.

You are correct:)devil

Now if you go to a titled state then they will issue a new title.

yes it does. And when you borrow money to buy a boat, the lean is on the trailer, not the boat. Yes it's true.

Thats interesting, I financed half of it, but I guess the bank and seller can figure that out.
Funny quick story, I bought my Nordic from Magic34 on the boards and he took it as a trade from some guy in Utah for his Magic. Anyway, the boat was registered in Nevada I think and in order to get my financing processed, Magic34 had to register the boat in AZ first. This eliminated the title requirement because it was now an AZ boat. So we do the deal and I send all the paperwork to my lender. I've been paying on the boat for going on 3 years now and every once in a while I still get a letter from my lender that says "We cannot process your loan without the title". Funny, they cash that check every month yet they haven't processed my loan?:)sphss:D

Beautiful Boat! I have the same one but red. You're going to love it! Congratulations.
texas is gonna expect a title for that trailer as well:)bulb just take it to my tag agent in town, have them inspect the hin #'s and file for a okla title, then retitle it in texas;) there should be serial numbers on the trailer tag somewhere to go for a title on it.its not that big a deal, i just went thru this tues getting a title on the nordic.
sorry guys, i am normally just a browser but i thought i would help. the boat dosent have to have an az title to get the texas title. you will go to the texas parks and wildlife site, you will need form pwd 143 and pwd 504 i believe. you will have to fill them out, and pencil trace the hin. there are a couple of places that you have to have the previous owner sign as well. you will need the bill of sale from az, and the az registration if possible because it will help you out. as far as the title for the trailer, if the trailers weight with boat is under 3500 lbs it is a registration only. if more than that you will need a bill of sale, and the registration from that trailer. there is a form on txdot for change of ownership for trailer on there. if they give you too much hassle on that trailer, you can register it as homemade with another form. i had to go through all of this when i bought a boat out of colorado. it was a huge pain in the ass, but i have dont a couple of them now and it is getting to be painless.
