I have made several calls to ARP and AFR about head bolts and starting to get frustrated:|err

Has anybody installed AFR heads on a gen 6 block(blind holes) with ARP head bolts?

What bolt kit did you use??

I have a set of 135-3705 that are for the 8 1" longer exhaust bolts needed but they bottom out .060 before they make contact.

I'm measuring these without the head gasket( .040)
according to AFR and ARP these should be correct.

i maybe out in left field here but did you run a bottoming tap in all the holes i think arp instructions say that somewhere as i say it is just a thought that they are seated well, guess you could double washer if you are sure of your measurements.

Just shorten the bolts. I bet there's plenty of thread.
Guess that would be my answer also, thread a nut on the bolt, grind or cut off 1/8", remove the nut and carefully dress down the end.

Wouldn't be fun for an entire set, but if it's only the 8 long ones may be simpler than returning your set?

are you useing the washers when measuring? especially on aluminum heads, ARP recomends and useually supplies thick washers to be used with their head bolts.

Thanks for all the replies, I called ARP today and spoke with
another tech guy that seemed to know what he was talking about.
the set I need is the 135-3707 made for gen 6 block with Dart/AFR heads.

the 8 longer exhaust bolts are 5.00" instead of 5.225"

there is also a difference on base set 4.18" compared to 3.96"

the 135-3707 set is a complete set for this application.

BTW AFR heads require a longer course thread on the rocker stud for the exhaust side 1.650" compared to the intake rocker .820
part # 235-7204 intake set, 235-7203 exhaust set

I guess I will have some new ARP bolts for sale
