On the Bassett long collector "belled end" headers, what's the difference in tone between a pair with the belled end and one with the end chopped off? Motor is a bbc.

best guess is the cut-offs will be about 3.69 octaves above the bells. For example, the bells will sound like vroom crackle vroom whereas the cut-offs will be vroooom crackle crackle vroooom. :)sphss
I was thinking the difference wouldn't be too noticeable, if any..but more about which look you prefer.
...just a guess, but wouldnt the flared out end act like the cone on a megaphone and make them louder??

Probably to an extent..I've had both and can't really tell any difference, but I'm getting older and more deaf by the day too..
Long length collectors offer greater low end torque, than a short collector.
