Best Bang For Your Buck Vacations?

What's everyone recommending these days?
Every vacation I've taken in the past several years has been to either go back to California to visit or some type of company awarded vacation that required me to attend work related seminars. I need a real vacation.

My father in law is addicted to cruise ships. He does not drink so he can vacation for a couple hundred bucks. I on the other hand enjoy drinking so I'm wondering if one of those all inclusive resort deals may be better.

What's the best bang for your buck deal right now?

Definitely a cruise. Best bang for the buck and you get to go to several destinations and bring your hotel with you. As far as the booze budget, they don't limit you on luggage, so we always bring an extra wheelie bag full of booze. Last cruise I brought a 30 pack of BL, 2 huge bottle of wine, a handle of Jack, and a big bottle of Captain for the wife. Didn't buy a single drink the whole trip (7 days). If you sail with princess they don't check for booze. Let me know if you go this route cause I can probably get you a really good deal through family connects
x2 on the cruise. bring booze! Or spend $5-7 a beer all week.

Cruises are nice because you don't have to do anything! You just show up, eat, drink, shiit, sleep, relax and have fun.
We go to Costa Rica every year around this time. Its their "Winter" time over there so they Off Season rates apply which means Cheaper everything. Its not a real winter. It only rains about an hour a day and sunny the rest of the time with Avg temperatures of 85.

We go to Manuel Antonio and stay at Si Como No Hotel. Check it out.

The peso is like 14:1 right now too. That is good.
pretty hard to beat vegas right now. Stayed at Encore earlier in the month, 53'rd floor suite, $50 a day credit, pretty much gave the room away. 2 for 1 big shows. free buffet trips... best of all a 35 min plane ride.
Were in New York and love the place. Great deals on rooms but the food is $$$.
any place that is all inclusive like cancun jamacia spent the extra money and you wont spend money on alcohol or food. me and the wife go to cancun every year for 5 to 7 days for under 3000 airfair included. not as cheap as a 5oo dollar cruise but well worth the money IMO

If you have time while you are there, stop by the Shake Shack in Madison square park for a cheesburger...you will not be dissapointed! Also, McSorley's in Greenwich village is a great historical place for a beer
vacation

One of the most beautiful places on earth and is very reasonable is the Turks and Caicos island jsut off the Florida coast. ALL INCLUSIVE UNREAL PLACE.:)devil

Best bang I recently learned about with cruises is a relocation cruise, can't say for sure thats what its called but in essence thats what it is.....its a one way cruise where the ship is relocating to another port for the season.
This woman told us her trip is a 1 month cruise that normally would be in the $10k+ price range, but because the ship won't return she was able to book this one way cruise for under $2k and fly back.
I'd never heard of it before, so I took the lesson with a grain of salt, wondering if its a real thing or not.

You got it right Ziggy.
Parents in Law do it all the time. Cruise down from Canada to San Diego on the cheap, hang with us a few days and fly back. The cost of the cruise, hotel, and flight is roughly 1/2 the cost of a normal round trip on the boat.

Its a seasonal thing for this one. At the end of summer they head south and visa-verse when winter ends. Snow birds of the cruise lines so to say. ;)
Cabo is our yearly....

booked the family of 4 flights from LA to Los Cabos, with taxes and all was $1K, then staying at Villa Del Palmar suite for $365 for the week. Cant beat that with a stick.

There are about 25 of us going middle of August.

Have any of you gotten booze easily onto a Carnival cruise? Going on a cruise with friends Aug 8th to Cabo and have been consumed with finding vessels for all of the booze I want to bring. I would love to get a 30-pack of Budlight on the ship, but am apprehensive about getting caught. Any tips or tricks you can suggest?

Sorry for the thread jack, DannyH...:)sphss

if u leave from la just tip the porters big if you leave from san diego ive been told they dont care. for the superbowl i went to cabo on carnival and im a vodka drinker i emptied big water bottles and filled them with grey goose then superglued the lids back to the breakaway ring on the bottom and put about 3 liters in my carry on bag. you are allowed to take as much water as you can carry along with 2 celebratory bottles of wine. then i had my buddy carry on 3 bottles of cranberry and i kept him about 5 peep behind me so the xrayer could not put 2 and 2 together.
The best deal we've had was an all inclusive week in Cozumel/Cancun. We stayed at the Palace resorts and were treated like royalty, Ice cold drinks all day long and great food all included. People sell their time share weeks on ebay, so you get the member deal for almost what they pay. We dove all week too, the water is second to none... I only took my wallet out a couple of times the whole week...
We do the All Inclusive resorts in Mexico. We use Iberro Star Resorts (sp). They seem to have the nicest resorts and of course that does include all meals, drinks and airfare plus travel from airport to the resort. They do fly out of Denver. We really like their food and the resorts are fairly new with very nice grounds and big pools with many Bars around the pool. they also have any where from 2-4 resturants plus a few Buffets. If I remember right it was about $1100 a person for 7 nights, 8 days. They have resorts in Cozumel, Cancun and PLaya De Carma plus other places. Worth checking out.
