24 is the most common with a 496. you can pull a 22 and it will make a huge difference in your bottom end, but, you will lose it all on the top.

Either way, you will sacrafice somewhere, bottom or top, you just need to figure out what is more important.

I don't know if it's weight distribution or what, but the Magic hull seems a little slower to roll over then other deck boats I have ridden on. I think the key is to tuck the drive, roll into the throttle and do a little S turn. The S turn seems to shift the weight and get the boat on plane a little quicker.
If you have the boat loaded up with people, fuel and gear a 22P might be the way to go, but I would try it and see where your rpm's are at wide open throttle. You don't want to run it on the rev limiter.

I have the same boat and prop. mine gets on plane 1 1/2sec. I roll the throttle to full throttle w/ my drive all the way down. once i'm on plane i pull throttle back and away i go :)hand

Mine wont hit the rev limiter with a 22 full with 4 people

Tabs are a nice addition, but the bottom line is that if all the other gazillion Magic's are working fine with a stock 24 Bravo One prop, this boat should too. Find the problem before you start throwing other stuff on there.

Agreed. Of all the Magics I see on the lower river, not a single one is running a tab. There are other issues that need to be addressed before a tab is installed.
