what bob said are you maxed out on your prop size? i do notice a little difference in fuel consumption from a 24p to the 26p with 26 giving me better/lower cruise rpm and top end speed. i also got better fuel consumption when i stopped trying to keep up with the fast guys as long as i know where we are going ill meet them there saved a few gallons of gas now the consumption from the cooler goes up as the ride is a little longer hell maybe im not saving shit after all:angry::D

Emptying your ice chest will only lighten the boat if you dump the contents overboard, but it's a great concept ... lighten your boat for improved mpg.

Hey pirate, Kathy could ride in my boat. :wink2:

Doesn't the boat have to be put in the water before you start worrying about mpg?:wink2::)hand
We ran 187 miles on Saturday and never once worried about how much fuel or oil we were burning. B&W to Discovery Bay, Stockton, Pittsburg, Golden Gate and back to B&W. It was an EPIC day.

Are you running the highest pitch prop possible? You may be able to drop your cruise speed RPM.

Back to boats from goats. Late last year I damaged an ear on my Bravo prop while attempting to tow a stranded buddy. After reading excellent reviews, I shipped the prop to CUTTING EDGE in SoCal, and spoke with the owner about increasing my mid range. He worked his prop magic, and I picked up 2+ mph at known RPM according to my GPS speedo. No loss of low end was noticed, have not yet run WOT, so no info on top speed, but that was never my goal. Bravo props are only available in even number pitches, seems CE was able to give a slight increase in pitch with no ill effects. Happy camper.

Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with Cutting Edge, just very pleased with my results.

Cutting Edge also builds Bravo replacement props in a variety of blade numbers and configurations, and more importantly they offer pitches in one inch increments from 24 to 36 inch pitch, both left and right rotation. Many more prop options than from Mercury at reasonable prices.
