I have a stage three LittleField That needs some timing setup etc. It looks like the rotors are making a little contact. It also sounds kinda loud when its hot. Maybe its bolted down to a warped serface?? I think it went bad after we put the new manifold with intercooler on.

KUHL Superchargers in Santa Ana has always done me right! took one of
my blowers to them, Mr. Mike Kuhl himself dissassembled it in front of me,
pointing out things that he mentioned might be wrong beforehand, and he
was 100% correct! honest, friendly,VERY Knowlegable, And cut me a killer

Kuhl is a done deal.

I know a guy who worked for Kuhl and a bunch of Alcohol and Fuel teams as a blower guy that rebuilds them, hes in socal and is very reasonable and knows his chit and will do it right. PM if interested.

Cant go wrong with Littlefield or Mooneyham. I like some of the stuff coming out of The Blower Shop; some really nice engineering, but have not had service work done there yet, only because Littlefield is so close and I like their work.

I will add my experiance not to start a pissing match but to add some additional awareness to check things out closely.

Last spring I needed to get my blower manifold surfaced and sent it to Mooneyham (post Gene__RIP).

One we had it back, we mounted it up on the engine and at startup I had a squeal that needed to be heard before you could even begin to understand how loud it was.

Long story short, it turns out that I had a massive leak under the snout by the thermostat housing and also in back right by the distributor. With a straight edge and flashlight you could see that the deck wasn't true and there was a dip right down the center of the manifold. I called them at least 4 times (with them never returning any calls as promised). Eventually I got them on the phone again and they said "we must not have had the cutting head true" when they machined it and therefore probably cut a slight dip right down the center of the manifold.
In their defense, they said that they in the process of moving so the shop personnel were not always available by phone (though I did leave my number with the sales/secretary every time)

While they did offer to take another swing at machining it square, they didnt offer to cover shipping (Washington to SoCal) nor gaskets and to be perfectly honest with you, after talking to them that last time, I didnt feel comfortable with having them machine it again.

Like I said, I'm just offering up what my experiance was with my one and only time of doing business with them. It sounds like many have had great luck and possibly I was just unfortunate. With that said, there are many competitors to them and I'll likely deal with them instead.

blower shop

blower shop did mine. service was awesome. i gave it to them to do a basic rebuild and fix a bad seal. i didnt have them re stripe it, but they did it for free anyways. every seal, bearing, and to my surprise every single fastener was replaced. came with all new gaskets and works perfect. i was surprised to see all the fasteners replaced, but maybe thats just standard with a rebuild. basic re build labor, front and rear bearing and seal kits, snout bearings, snout seal, seal wear ring. 507.72 with tax. 1071 littlefield.

You need to "lap" the manifold after you install it on the engine. They move around a bit when you bolt them down.. Monneyham probably had the manifold flat, but when you bolted it down , it distorted the surface, maybe ?

The mag ones are really bad......

A lapping plate is a good thing !

Thanks for the tip Brian. This had never been a problem with this manifold/blower step up before but I was pulling my hair out for a bit trying to figure out what the heck was going on.

I'd love to hear your suggestions on how to lap one properly. Post it up somewhere on here or PM me. Thanks a bunch and hope you see you guys out there this year.

We will be in Burley for sure. We are planning on Puddingstone for the first K race. Then a couple local "testing" races in prep for Burley.

A lapping plate is like a thick 1" or 1 1/14" plate with a couple handles sticking out the top surface. You use a large sticky back piece of 80 grit or so ( the big disc sander discs work great ). After you bolt the intake on, mask up the inside. And then work the top of the manifold like you do body work. Diagonal in all directions, back and forth. The weight of the plate is what sands the manifold. You will be amazed how little work it is to get it flat, but, that it does take some material off to make it flat. DON'T take so much off that you have to re-oring it ! Just take enough to see your new sanding scratches.

I started it and was just thinking AGAIN that my uneven rotor wear was due to not mounting my blower to a flat surface. My last motor was much quieter. Now the thing sings. Ok did till I hurt it again.

Mike Kuhl sold me a few things a few years ago. Ill ck there. I want this deal done right "again".
