I have a tired 454 with edlebrock hds 315cc runners and 118 combustion chambers...8.5 to 1 comp....871 blower with intercooler...750 holleys
runs about 9 lbs of boost..
If i take a new 540 short block,,,bolt all my componets on it ..getting 950 holleys ...with those hds it should be about 9 to 1 comp...If i use the same pullies on the blower....would this work and how would my performance improve....also i think my boost would be lower?
thanks for the input.....

This should get interesting, when Steelcomp, GN7, Fiat 48, Infomaniac and a few other HP gurus get home they will help you out-----Oh yea you should list type of boat, drive, intended purpose, cam, rod and piston combo, any head work, valve sizes, blower spec's(stripped or not), intended fuel, good luck.

Anyone can pedal a bicycle, can you pedal a flat?????

Your final compression ratio is really close to the same. There are things that come into play like cam profile, but they are pretty close. You may want to run ever so slightly less timing because of the bore size and the fact that the 540 is just a hair higher final. But it should run pretty good. Let some body get there hands on the Eddys that knows what they are doing and you'll be even happier.
