Ok I am new to this forced induction thing, but just picked up a new motor. Its a 400 block with supposedly 12:1 pistons and a 6-71 blower at 1:1 on alcohol.

12:1 compression sounds like a ton for a blower, but I don't know anything about the alcohol. Is this thing a recipe for disaster in a 1/4 mile dragster?

No problem with 12 to 1 blown alcohol. I have pushed 12.5 and have run boost pressures of 25 lbs without a problem....many years.

Sounds absolutely perfect.

A fair amount of compression & a little blower.

This is pretty close to my deal. I am 4% over with a 671 & right around 12:1.

The blower puts out 8 lbs of boost at what I think is around 7K rpm.

There is allot of knowledge in hear regarding blown injected alcohol. Just ask specific questions & you will get the help you need.:)devil:)devil

Glad to hear that it is not too much compression. Thanks guys. I am sure I will be having lots of questions.

I know the first thing I am going to want to do is try and slow this thing down some until I can learn to drive it. Don't know if I can slow it down to the 10 sec mark or not but it would sure be nice. Where is the best place to buy pulleys? How much can I underdrive it and have it not be a pig?

You can find pulleys on e-bay.

I have a 8mm 60 I will let go if you need.

Fiat48 (Bob) can let you know about under-driving.

What are you putting this deal in?

They slow down just fine. Give me more of an idea of the motor and the car..it's weight, etc.

Usually some pulleys on Ebay...or RCD sells them as do most blower shops.

Many guys build a motor depending on the blower a lot to make the power. Other guys build a rather efficient N/A motor and then supplement the motor with the blower. Just depends on what you have...how it was built.

I would put it about 6% underdrive....lean it 10 numbers...a new set of NGK 8 range plugs.
Run a couple half track passes.....see whatcha got.
Looks like a good time!

If you are going to run an index with this thing.....I would go to 8mm pulleys so you can close tune the number with the blower. On 8mm...1 tooth is approx 2% drive change so it allows for fine tuning.

Good inputs thanks. Just going to be doing bracket racing for now. I don't think we have an index class available here.

I can not wait to get it here now and play with it.
