I've got to go through my 565 again thats set up as your standard 8.5 comp deal have an intercooler and a 10-71 made 1080 with just over 11lbs usually ran at 10 to avoid race gas,I was contemplating dropping the blower and going naturally aspirated, but need close to 1000, planning on going E-85 (plenty around here) not sure my heads will work (380 darts) or I all so have a set of 345 afrs, to big? max rpm 7200 5000 2/3 of the time. Roots just seem to suck so much power, Other though was bump comp to 10-1 still blow it with the E-85 should make some sick power.... thoughts?

NA and E-85 with around 12 to 1 compression your going to be in the 800 HP range with those cubes and that RPM. Going to take a healthy stick so maintenance will be increased.

So right now you have a reliable 1000hp pump gas motor, and ya want to change. I wouldn't change a thing. Freshin' her up and run it.

Not sure why you would consider losing the blower if you already have it. For cost effectiveness freshen up what you have after all 1080hp is nothing to sneeze about. However if your considering going to e85 why not leave the piston's and cam and up the boost to say 15-16lbs and see what happens. :)bulb

I've had a hell of a time getting a boost # much past 12 spinning it as much as 30% over in two different motors three different cams , thats why I have been leaning towards bumping the comp. seems to be the trend, looking at he charts 10 to 1 with even 10 lbs = 16.8 which I've heard is not that far off with E-85 I've run 10 lbs with 8.5 comp. which = is 14.3 on bds chart never saw a sign of detonation. ( I plan to use chris this time to get the best choice this time) to get that optimized, as far as bleed off,

I know mark and he is making crazy power with that, looked at it the last time it came a part. changing to efi and turbo would probably set me back 10K with everything those headers on e bay looked promising though and the carb is a cheaper way to go.so 3k for turbos 600 headers. 1000 carb , ??

borg warner s475 turbos are only 600 each, lol mark and my uncle are running them;)

i've looked at those edelbrock ss upswept bbc headers, they hold some promise as turbo headers. 500 bucks for set of those from doug herberts, you prob could sell your old headers and get that

my uncle is running 70buck wastegates that work great and really control boost well, 50buck blow off valve. he did buy the headers from mark but no reason you couldn't make the edelbrock headers work if you had the room.

here's ya a copy and paste to ponder on:D

Our Q-750-BAN was tested on a 540 cid Big Block Chevy using a ProCharger F-2 supercharger produced a mind numbing 940 lb-ft or torque and 977 HP at only 11 ¾ lbs. of boost. (Reference: Car Craft Magazine, [PRIMEDIA Inc.] October, 2005 issue.)

same carb i bought, same carb you could run, on PUMPGAS

Reliable is a stretch, had some valve train issues, bought jessels, lifter exploded, got the neddlesless iskys , ran to hot , get a different water pump,
but its never been blower, or boost related ,no melt downs though

thats a lot cheaper than I though, I keep thinking a guy could build a plenum over a standard roots intercooler and blow into that keep it all in close to the motor any reason that wouldn't work?

Could the blower possibly be due for a freshen up? Seems like a 10-71 should be able to push a little more. I was looking at cheap, if your pistons are good. I know a efi turbo (car guy) here that just droped from 10:1 to 8.5:1 because he torched a head and melted some pistons pushing e85 up around 19lbs boost. I don't think e85 is as close to methanol as some would lead people to believe.

its the one I got from tony skagen ,I think he said it had a little different type of stripping in it, but mooney ham check it last season before I traded him my 14 and it wasn't worth changing it if I go e- 85 might need to clearance it somewhere between that and alky

what's happening is guys are thinking they don't have to intercool e85 like methanol and they try to cram the timing to it like methanol, its not methanol, you have to treat it like race gas.

the blower intercooler idea sounds cool in theory, may work some but you want the boost being cool before it ever reaches the fuel emulsifier:)bulb that way when the carb breaks up the fuel goin into the boost stream, it lowers iat's even more;) if you're doin intercooling after the throttle blades, that boost doesn't have near as much time to cool down. that's not just my imo, its a proven fact.

we're running 2 huge air to water intercoolers on my uncle's motor and i ordered 1 kinda like his. 150 each ! we had his tested up to 70psi on both sides of the cores, and they held it for hrs.
