Happy holidays Greg,

I am in the process of blue printing the bottom of my '78, 20' Eliminator sport. The bottom was is in good shape and had very little hook in it. This hull is pretty heavy with 4 full length stringers and 3/4' plywood in the transom. The keel c.l. from the rocker to the intake is flat. The passenger side was very close and only required a little grinding in a couple areas to get flat. The driver side required some fill. I ground all the gel coat off and very little of the first layers of mat (still some there) at the transom to minimize the fill amount to about .130". I have layed 2oz. mat and 1708 dbm in the low areas and am in the process of grinding to flatten and feather it into the hull. What do's and dont's do you recommend from this point? There's a couple pics. in the fiberglassing section titled "glassing over gel coat" if you'd like to review it. The berk. intake was originally machined for a shoe and ride plate and installed by Ross Wilder. I have set the intake back 5-3/4" from stock, so the hand hole is accessable from exterior of transom. I set the intake @ 4.5 deg. to the keel. I had MPD make a new shoe and shims for it. The intake will have a custom loader grate in it and the pump will be blue printed as well. My ultimate goal for this deal is 80mph with a 600 hp/468" bbc with thru transom lightning headers. In your opinion/experience is this goal reasonable? Happy New Year, Well I looked at your work in progress and everything looks good but you have done a lot of work that was unnecessay but it will be just fine. When setting the punp back we usually only go back so that we leave about 1" 1/2 of the bottom left so that it still ties the right and left of the boat together so the intake will less likely to break loose in lake use. When moving the intake that far back you might experience the intake cavatating in sharp turns thus the pump will suck air. Generally straight line should be OK. I also question the degree of the intake. 4.5 degrees will load the pump harder which might take a little longer to dial in with shoe depth , mouth opening, and nozzle size. This boat will respond just fine with a back cut shoe. We built a number of these boats with various power combinations and the boat will respond quite well wiht all of the work that you have done.
