Depends on where you want to boat at but IMO i like the lines of the ultra and would be a great lower river boat because of the jet.But if you want to do some lower river and lakes the essex would also be nice boat too since it s a prop.

I have an eliminator with a 350 mag/alpha combo it will run 60 on a perfect day but does not use much fuel at all and still moves a full boat pretty well. That equal sized jets with the big blocks will use alot more fuel to do the same speed.

The lavey is a nice boat but too big for a jet drive.

Being the Newb, can ya'll take a look at these and give me an honest opinion of value and craftsmanship of these boats...use: family cruising, tubing, maybe skiing...and yes, hauling as much ass as I can with a family boat, lol...

#1: Super clean 2000 Ultra Custom - ready for the River!!

#2: 1997 Renegade Jet Boat 21'

#3: 2000 21' Commander 2100LX Jet

#4: 1998 21' Lavey Craft xtski

#5: 1994 ESSEX MIRAGE

Thanks for any input.
Your might look at a outboard powered Stoker

It real easy to switch a props for tubing and skiing

Get great mileage and out run most everything

The value of any of those boats no matter how good they look would to me be based largely on their actual condition vs the sellers sales pitch/hype/described condition , would highly recommend carefull thought and thorough inspection (hopefully by someone qualified) for deterioration, rot, structural integrity, actual true condition of engine (compression) , drive condition , hull etc, all this would dictate the true price, also verifiable records of service and repairs including descriptions of work, parts used who did the work etc etc .... very common call to us is .... "Hey guys I just bought a jet boat and now on our first vacation trip out to the lake with it and (fill in the blanks) eg won't start, wont move, has a noise etc etc )" Caviot Emptor

X2 with this advice. First figure out where you plan on doing most of your boating. If it's the lower river with a lot of shallow water I like the jets. If you think you'll split time, or maybe even spend more than half your time on a lake or say Parker, then the IO would be my choice definitely. You can run the IO on the lower river you just need to be more cautious, and your way more susceptible to the fluctuation of the water level which can be a PITA.

All of your choices look like they would be very nice boats to own.

If at all possible have the boat and motor inspected by an independent 3rd party. When I bought the CP I did that and the inspection turned up a leak in the intercooler. The owner had to pay to have it replaced.

I'd be kind of leery of anyone who would throw that big ass pro stock scoop on the engine cover. Makes me wonder what else they thought was cool. Like I said earlier, this boat compared to all the others are in 2 different leagues. If your looking for something to work on, this may be the one. If you want a turn key, ready to take to the river boat, I'd stay with the others you posted. That boat is 20 + years older than everything else you've posted up.
