Boating accident statistics

Pull up "Recreational Boating Statistics". It is amazing what is on there. The last year entered is 2007, and there is 73 pages of information. What is dearest to our conversations are alcohol and speed-here is a summary:
In catagories numbered 1-10, speed is number 4 in accidents, but only number 7 in fatalities. A big surprise is that alcohol is number 5 in accidents, following speed, but by far #1 in fatalities.(Almost 5 times as much as speed). There is a great section on life jackets and the numbers that go with them. I would encourage that this be looked at, as it is a real eye opener. (Not to mention the Patrol Boat Accidents!).

I hope I did not offend in posting a link (that does not need to be clicked on in case you don't want to see it). My hope is that by understanding the reality that things happen we will better prepare ourselves to NOT be a statistic.:D
