My good friend has a 24 ft boat with a 350 in it. Newer hull 2000 cheetah . Anyway I notice when its on the trailer the outdrive will swing left and right a good 8 inches free play. When closer inspect it looks like the steering where connects to outdrive is pot metal. Is this part of the gimbel ? By chance any one got a good used to sell. Thank you

Imco is your best option if you replace the gimbal assembly.
Check the power steering assist on the inside starboard side of transom also.
There is a clamp bolt and a large nut on the steering arm as well, make sure to check to make sure these are tight, these are mounted to the upper swivel shaft that is clamped to the gimbal with the large u bolt that you can see the 2 nuts coming through on the top of gimbal ring.
If you cant get access and find these parts are loose or need to be changed there is a procedure to drill to holes int he upper section of the outer transom plate to gain access and then they install plugs in the holes when done..
