Just bought a GM factory 502" (4.466 x 4.00 )(9.80 Deck) short block ( just Block & Pistons) and installing it into a 2110 open bow approx:2250 pound boat, jet drive whats your thoughts on how you would set this up to get max. speed and torgue.( river boat 5,000-6,500 rpm engine) I know its not a speed boat but tired of having the slowest 21' open bow on the river. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

A good set of heads and an aggressive cam will get you in the 7-800hp range all day.

What would be a "good" set of heads? Like some DART heads or something? Just asking, my 454 (468) is in the shop right now being built......

Brodix, Darrt, AFR.... maybe even some cheap Pro Comps?

Widowmaker will probably chime in here. He is running a 502 bottom end with really great results.

I don't have dyno results, but am happy with my set of Brodix 280cc rect. runners. (BB1)

They are the smallest rect. runner heads that Brodix makes, I believe.

119cc Chambers.

Perfect for 500 inch motors at less than 5500 RPM?

Here is the link:

I doubt that you're looking for 700+ for your 21' open bow, here's an engine I helped a friend with many mooms ago. He purchased a 502" short block and added Brodix Heads and a small roller cam:
