Im having trouble getting rid of the Carrera, I thought it was cheap even with the few problems it has but the only serious buyers have been wanting to make payments or lowball me even more, the other one sold in worse shape and not running for 4500 so I dont get it, but anyway I decided ill keep it up for sale but try to put a little work into it and use it over the next year and still try to find my family boat.

Does anyone have the links for the basics on building seat frames? One thing ive wanted to do is put in a bench in the back and build some more cushy buckets up front like the newer eclipses. I remember a step by step guide on the web but cant find it.

Also anywhere to get the specs and correct numbers to build an engine for a jet? Ive put together more then a few motors but id like this one to be back to stock hardin for a jet and I dont know the differences, any books out there on building a 454 specific to a jet? The stocker truck engine seems to be doing great but I think its scaring off potential sales.

Id really love to keep the boat anyway and maybe I can figure out how to keep it and a family boat by next year.

Thanks for anyhelp guys.

What does the boat look like and how much were you asking?

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/boa/675493296.html

its not perfect, motors a temp out of an old truck, unknown mileage, few oil leaks that might be easy to fix, few nix and scratches that should be easy to repair in the gel but no glass damage, its 17 years old so it a little faded and interior material is about on its way out, but the boat is solid. Also seems to have an intermittent electrical problem, seems after it sits for a few weeks when you run it it just looses ignition, I squeeze the wires at the switch and sometimes wiggle the ones on the wire block at the motor and no more problems, probably something simple. Comes with the original 4 bolt 360 hp hardin motor as well, needs new pistons and reassembled.

Its ok, needs some work which I have the resources for but just no time anymore. I got married in November and got a baby due next November so time has just got short getting ready. I pretty much spend 7 days a week either working or getting ready for the kid. Hopefully things will slow down in the next month or so, so I can take a break and ill be able to put a little time into the boat if it doesnt sell. I like the boat and really dont want to get rid of it but it would make things easier at the moment.

Im on the Far South end of town, if I do make it out to the lake it will just be a short spin around for an hour or so after 5 or Tuesday and Wednesdays when im off work.

Hey JAG, keep the boat, fix it up and put a baby seat in the back with a seat belt and you're ready to go. :)bulb You've got a darn good hull and set up. Make it a hobby project and run it this summer. You've got all the fixens for a family boat that can go fast too. Hey, you can teach the kid to ski behind it too!! See, there is a bright side. ;)

I agree 100% ...

Eclipse's are great family boats ... the more I learned about them, the more I liked them.

Keep it and run it ... your family memories will last a lifetime!

Thats a nice thought, im in no hurry to sell but it would help getting something the wife would would enjoy sooner. The ole lady wants a place to take a nap and a toity to use. Not to mention not so noisy and rough.

Well see what happens. Anyone know where that write up is on building seat frames?

I can easilly tell you what was done on an old Indmar 454, circa 1978, and I have the intake still, but threw the cam away (but have the P/N and specs).

The stocker harden 454 seems in great shape still. 2 pistons are chipped up pretty good but everything else looks good, during dissassembly the journals and bearings all looked new still and the cylinders dont have any scratches. Cam and crank look good and no scratches, maybe ill get it all checked out and just get a basic rebuild kit with pistons and rods, add some chrome and aluminum and run it. Im cleaning out the shop and got some nice big block toys laying around but really cant justify adding them to the boat if I end up selling it.

Try to have whoever is doing the interior do the seats. There are a couple of places in Riverside,CA who have done interiors on that particular boat-my bro got his done for $3200 from Martinez Marine Interiors with new carpet, seats, interior panels & engine cover. Since you have some of it already you could lower the price some, plus, they are dead right now. I would call them. Badass custom work, better than any schmoe and would add a lot of value to the boat when you do decide to sell and in the meantime. Someone in Vegas can probably offer comparable work...
