My fuel level gauge hasn't worked for a couple years and I figured it was time to figure out the problem.

After doing a couple continuity tests, I disconnected the sending unit and jumped the sending unit from my oil pressure gauge to it...cranked up the engine...and the needle on the fuel gauge never moved.

Is the gauge dead?

Verify you have +12V and a good ground to the gauge. If so, with the ignition switch on, you should be able to ground the sending unit wire to get the gauge to move.

oddly enough, I grounded the sending post on the gauge and nothing happened for about 10 seconds...then the gauge pegged. I hooked up the sending unit and it works perfectly.

odd.
