I have searched and searched but there is not much info on installing a Calgo steering.
I know there are many of You out there running the Calgo and would apreciate any instructions on how it is installed.
What do You do with the cables that run down the side of the boat?
Is it better to run the cable and sheath out side the transom to a bracket mounted on the pump,or stop the sheat on the inside of the transom and only the cable out side?
Would like as much info as posible and pics would be nice also.
I have the hole in the dash drilled and the hub is in place. where do i go from there? Thanks.....Hal

I am in the process of redoing my steering also. I went with Teleflex though. Mine is run Along side the gunnel behind the gas tank does a very small S turn (less than 8') and out the steering tube. I am not to familiar with the Calgo steering system but i assume its the Aircraft looking cables. Sorry i couldnt be of more help.

I dont know much about the calgo. I've considered using a hybrid of the Calgo with some components that the V-drivers are using...Would take some custom parts but would be a lot easier to work on from what I hear.

I ran brackets off my bowl bolts because my transom is very thin and would flex, and I also think that it looks a litte more sano. I mounted my cable seals high on the transom in hopes that as little water as possible would get inside the cables. My cables just run down the side of the boat under the gunnel.

Widowmaker, What are the tubes that are mounted on the transom that the cables come trhru? Are they water tight and where would I get them?
Did You fasenten the cables under the gunnels in some way? There is no movement to the cables under the gunnel is there, They just hang there?
At the point where the sheath ends at the fiting on the pump bracket,is there a little metal stop,or is it just the end of the sheath?
if the cable sheath is a little to long should I trim the sheath or just let the extra be tucked up under the gunnel?
What size are Your cables Thanks....Hal

Hey Hal, since I have the boat that that setup came off of here in the shop, let me know if you need any measurements or pics.
Thank's John.
Is that boat an 18' or 19'? It looks like I have plenty of cable. I think it was set up similar to Widowmakers, except that the cables came thru the TA plates? I have pictures of the boat with the setup in it, some where.....Hal

The cable seals that rex linked above are correct, Yes they are water tight, they have oring seals inside them. The cables are hung inside the gunnels with rubber clamps with a hole thru them,

then I thru bolted the clamp with 10/32 machine screws thru the gunnel about 4 sets going down the side. You will trim the cable housing to length. DO NOT CUT THE SS CABLE!!!!!! Coil up the extra cable like the picture above outside the boat. The adjusting screws will hold the cables in place and that is where the tension will be adjusted.

Hope this helps.
