moly engine assembly lube, you can buy it most at most parts stores, its basically the same stuff you get with cam kits. i use it for engine assembly, although it blackens the oil some if you use as much as i do:D i've got a bad habit of layin the lube to it:p

Molybdenum Disulfide paste is made by most camshaft manufacturers. We used Isky, Crane or Comp Cams paste generously rubbed on every lobe and lifter upon installation.

p.s. For what it's worth, we killed the last two flat tappet cam engines we built despite using this very same product and method. We are now done with them. Roller or hydraulic-roller for everything from here on out. The new oils simply kill flat tappet cams sooner or later.

try vr1 next time, its only %1 lower zinc in it than epa allows for onroad oil, add that other 1% to it and they'd have to sell it as a full race offroad oil:)bulb had no issues breaking in my flat hyd straub cam with almost 130lbs of seat pressure, and its a nasty lil cam:)grn

Thats why I brought up the ZINC additive, I believe the consensus is that were loosing lobes on the flat/solid tappet cams due the removal of ZINC from all engine oils...

Im with you DOC, nothing but rollers for me from now on... UNLESS someone determines that the LUCAS ZINC additive is the shyt...

yes, it comes in a big tube. its more like a grease than paste, but it sticks to the metal very well. i used it on my current cam and i started out with a shitload more spring pressure than i prob should have, but it did fine. matter of facto, the 1st set of lifters i ran collasped on me and i switched to teh hardened base delphi lifters, so the cam has had 2 different set of lifters ran against it in less than 30minutes run time and broke in fine. says alot about the moly grease and vr1 oil;)

Contradiction in terms there??? ;)
once upon a time i'd agree'd with ya, but chris really worked some magic on this cam for me, works awesome and its undistingiushable(sp?) from a roller cam as far as the sound and throttle response.lil cam's working its ass off:)grn:)devil

the delphi's are badass lifters!! i'm runnin a touch over 400 open:D the speed pro high rev lifters i tried 1st all collasped on me the 1st time i stuck it to 6100rpms. i checked my ego and ordered the delphi lifters everyone told me to get and they don't collasp, and i'm runnin them at near 0 lash, maybe a 1/16th turn of lash preload.
