Wiped out a flat tappet cam last season and want to change to roller. Heres the combo 04 25 Daytona single step. .030 454 forged bottom end. Patriot heads 2.25 intake 1.88 exhaust. Flat top pistons. B&M 420 with chiller. Two 800 Holley's double pump with boost reference. Bravo 1.5 drive. My goals are good drivability with the occasionally blast. Not looking to set the world on fire just something that idles decent and is a kick to drive. Thanks for any input. Mike :D

I'm finishing up my 509 for my 25' cat - whipplecharged-7lbs 32'pitch bravo 1
labbed prop w 1.50 gears the cam i'm gonna run is 236*/248* @.050 601/601 lift ULTRADYNE on a 114* lsa w/AFR 305's you could probably
go at least as big as this one, seeing you got more blower and carb, even
if you don't have the cubes IMHO,but you want to be able to shift the thing,
so an 800 rpm idle is what you are shooting for....like they say when in doubt
pick the smaller cam, and you will be happy:)

Not one person asked what exhaust or drive ratio/boost on the blower. And yet the cam numbers are flying. Probably blowing thru the prop:)sphss.
Drive ratio is in the first post. 1.5 Bravo. Exhaust IMCO Powerflow...maybe some Lighting headers. Looking to run about 6 to 8 lbs with a chiller. Thanks for any recommendations. Mike

cam

Not sure what you cam specs on the flat cam is, I run 30 over 454 same as you with cast head and no chiller, I make 6 lbs on a flat tap cam never had a problem.
I had full roller with blower and really with the blower not much power for $ there.
Plus if you toast the cam its alot cheaper to fix.Run a flat tap hydr cam just make sure you run 112-114LC and keep the lift min. You have a monster power adder.

Good luck with the build:)devil
