cars.gov does not have all the answers. I've been trying to get the skinny on my 87 F-350 crew cab dually. It didn't have a gas economy rating on it when it was new. They haven't been able to answer if I can qualify for $4,500 if I were to buy the same car that qualifies for a 3/4 ton for $4,500.Go to cars.gov and all of your questions will be answered and you will find out if your car qualifies. If anyone is looking for a Nissan, my gf can take care of you

If you qualify for the cash for clunkers, that money would be paid to the dealer. It is up to you and the dealer to work what is owed at etc. Think of the cash for clunkers as a down payment.i check the info on the site didnt get my answer...say you owe $$ on your trade-in and you have 4k in roll over will that rebate cover that to make a trade even steven with no roll over???
You realize that means you get $3500,, not $3500 in addition to whatever trade in you would have gotten? They may give you scrap value in addition to the $3500, but part of the deal is the truck will get crushed. You haven't mentioned condition, but seems like a decent '99 PU is worth more than $3500looks like i will get $3500.00 for a new ford. been approvedsphss now just have to decide what to buy

i am trying to sell it for $2200.00 and no offers. problem is it has 236,000 miles on it. so if i can get $3500.00 trade in on it and get a new car it just may be worth it. i have never owned a brand new car beforeYou realize that means you get $3500,, not $3500 in addition to whatever trade in you would have gotten? Clunker only needs to be registered to you for 12 months. There are a few rules though....
The car must be registered to you for the last 36 months.
Needs to get between xx-xx miles a gallon (not 100% sure on those #'s)
And there can be no DNA in any part of the car..
BTW.. I did see Ford was giving 4500 clunker and 4500 cash back or 2500 and 0% for 60 months.
Not to bad..
12 months it is... I thought I saw 36.Clunker only needs to be registered to you for 12 months.
From the cars.gov website: "Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in"
Some vehicles did not have a fuel economy rating, and those cars can be traded for $3500 for a vehicle the same size or smaller WITHOUT regard to fuel economy. I have not recieved an answer on if they qualify for $4500 if you buy a vehicle that is gas efficient (21 avg fuel economy or better).
man don't do that. i only had it since march 0812 months it is... I thought I saw 36.
I was right on the DNA though!!sphss
Ford is offering some nice deals right now. I just got quoted $14K on a Ford Ranger extra cab with the 4 banger. It stickers out at $19K with the options. Looks like I get $3,500 on my clunker as the extra cab for some reason doesn't qualify for the $4,500 dealio and it is not clear if my clunker would qualify for the bigger amount.12 months it is... I thought I saw 36.
I was right on the DNA though!!sphss
I'm having the same problem with a 1992 3/4 ton big block Suburban no listing for MPGcars.gov does not have all the answers. I've been trying to get the skinny on my 87 F-350 crew cab dually. But, interesting enough, I can get ANY vehicle that is the same size or smaller (wheel base and GVWR) without any fuel economy requirements and get $3,500.
Neither would I trust anything from a Car Dealer...:|errI would not trust anything with the Government. Im sure there is some sort of catch.
His 3/4 ton is not a class 3 truck.Your 3/4 ton will not work. My hubby just tried to work a deal on his F350 and its not go because its classified as a class 3 vehicle. You have to trade for another truck and you only get 3500. We wanted to trade for a car. Dodge has some great incentives right now in matching the Cash for Clunkers money. And the trade-in value you get is scrap value, generally about $150.
