wow. i wonder what the ***k was wrong with that volvo. even the jeep. i bet some kid that just got their drivers liscense would've loved to have either one of those. instead we will just teach them that someone else will help pay for their new car. and don't worry if something happens and you can't pay it cause there will be a program soon to help with that too.

discusting. This has to be the least economical way to dispose of a decent running vehicle.

Im wondering how much carbon was produced in the making of the new vehicle. I bet the clunker could have ran another 3 years, and not produced as much.

The Volvo looked like a decent car. That engine sure lasted a long time, especially compared to the Jeep.

That Volvo spewed oil all over the ground, cought fire....yada yada.

What a joke. That car had some serious life left in it. Us tax payers just paid to have a car junked that was not anywhere near junk.

What an incredible waste. The price of a car reflects energy already expended to build it. Destroying it when it still has economic life wastes the energy used to build it. Simple economics 101, but taking care of the environment and stewardship of the planet (as opposed to "being green") takes a back seat to political grandstanding.

Anyone know where it was filmed? The hazmat issues of throwing oil on the ground would cause some concern for some tree hugger govt folks!!

Fockin waste, how many schools would love to have those cars to help ...er...maybe educate some kids??

Typical!!!

There are plenty of people struggling, a lot without a car at all or a broken down one they can't afford to fix. Seems some of these could go to people like that.
This is so true, all they did was take good cars off the road from folk who were scared to buy a new car just yet, it did nothing to get the true "CLUNKER" off the road, you know the one with the wheels about to fall off or duck tape holding the glass in and a bungee core holding the trunk lid down with no AC and the guy that can't pay for a new car payment, yes that one, they should have taken these cars and did something to put them in there hands to help them, then maybe I would say I would surrport this, But nope the poor stay poor and the middle class get more in debt.:|err

I got to set in and watch them destroy a 89 Buick V-6 the other day @ MossBro's Toyota...They use liquid glass from Moc drain the oil & add the liquid glass & hold it at 2000rpm...Fun Stiff right there! Here's a You-tube link to a Volvo I found....

So Moss is already destroying the cars? We aren't destroying anything until we get our money from the government, if we end up having to unwind the deal and you've already destroyed the car the dealer is screwed.

Thats your tax dollars hard at work, so what do they care.

They could have taken all those vehicles and sold them to other countries, that was stupid.

I look at the bright side, I didn't vote for any of those assholes in office.

I am still not convinced that a new Ford or Chrysler would out last the Volvo. It looked like it had alot of life in it. I had a Ford car that lasted only 45,000 miles and then was worthless. It makes no sense to me. Another question is what happens when this deal ends and car sales STOP? I am keeping my paid for reliable car. I still think this will be the next bubble it will be the car bubble and lots of trouble on the horizon. All of those cars will be upside down and loans will get behind and it will be like the house bubble just another disaster waiting to happen. The person with the Volvo will wish they could have it back after a year. I hope I am wrong though

I was thinking the same thing! Moss has over 80 cars & they are already starting to disable them & has worked a deal with a dismantler to pick them up with a transport company 8 at a time....
