There will be a celebration of life for Jonathan Edward Bloom (Shortbus) at Discovery Bay Yacht Club on Sunday March 29th, 2015 at noon. The family has requested absolutely NO black clothing & encourage you wear something casual & fun like Tommy Bahama shirts & shorts. No need to RSVP. I will post here if there are any other details. I hope to see everyone there.
Do you want us to bring anything Rob? We held my dad's Celebration of Life party there just two years back, and had the food catered, but the bar was not open, people paid for their drinks (which are super cheap at the DBYC). It turned out really nice, and I was just wondering if it will be the same? Let us know if we need to bring anything.........
I just spoke with Lana and she confirmed the food & beverages are already all set up. I don't believe there is anything else that needs done, just show up please. Lana also mentioned that anyone who would like to get up and tell a funny story about Jon or just say something is more than welcome to do so. See everyone Sunday. Once again, I will be there early with the T shirts. You can reach me if needed at 925-421-5969
Its unfortunate that many times we learn alot more about the "person" that we pal around with at their memorials... Their eulogy typically describes their life and times from the people that have known them best and have such incredible memories of them. The tribute that his family and friends put together for him was absolutely wonderful, funny and emotional.
Jon was a quiet guy and never detailed much to very many, but all those that attended his "Celebration of Life" learned that there was so much more to this man than just him and his boat... Jon was a man among men, he will be greatly missed, but as Daveo says always in our hearts!
Godspeed Jon!
