Is this the first for this event or is it a annual thing. Clear lake seems to get a bad rap for the water quality. I usually go there a couple times a year and as long as the wind isn't blowing its beautiful and full when all other lakes are empty. Is the camp ground in Lakeport open, Willow point I think is the name, last time there it was closed an the local inhabitants didn't look to friendly.

Bob Silva APBA CSA region 11-12 is the one who set this up. He had the first event late September last year in Lakeport. Not many people knew about it. Hell, I didnt know til the windows at my place on the lake shook as a 70s blown alky boat flew by. I ran down to the City Park, to my suprise, there was a bunch of flatties and hydros parked by the fifth street boat ramp. I ran into Bob Silva. He was talking about setting up another event in 2008. So i emailed him recently to find out. He said the next event will be June 21 2008, spread the word. He is expecting a good turn-out this year. Then I just got done talking to Brian, another hotboat enthusiast in this area, he is letting a load of hotboat friends that he knows and maybe a TFH in the mix.

The quality of Clear Lake is fine as long as the lake is high. He picked a good date for it. The lake is full right now, six foot visable, no weeds. As far as Willow Point Campgrounds , I will look into it. There is also the State Park off Soda Bay Road. And many Hotels. Konocti Vista Casino Hotel and Marina probably the Cheapest.

Clear Lake is one of the best lakes I have ever been on, I love the place. Flats have no problem on the lake, just don't go through the narrows after 3pm till about 7pm and you will be fine.
It looks like Willow Point is the place to be, is there a possible group rate or special for the event ? Also what is going to be done about the Sherriffs ? I know from personal experience they don't like the noise !

Since this is in conjunction with the ski races, the noise shouldnt be an issue. There are a couple pretty loud boats that race.

When an event like the ski races is running, the sheriff is usually out for safety. Not for noise. Last event here, some boats had zoomies on full blown set-ups. The number keeps growing for vintage drag boats that will be showing up.

We made the last one by chance and won't miss the next. We are trying to get a few vintage flats completed in time to show up with a good mix of modern and nostalgia. Alota nice stuff came out of the Lake county woodwork last year and with TNT's servin' up the best margaritas in town, this otta be good!

Boat211, there are only 2 sheriffs on the water. They are really nice guys...it has never been an issue and i have tied along side of them for concerts at night. Hell, they even look the other way when you are drink'n. Clear Lake is on of the best kept secrets. However, it can get real rough on the lake.

Norcal, where are you located at.. I grew up at Willo - Point. Family had a trailer there from the 60s to mid 90s. We used to have the flamed flatbottom w/ matching 32 highboy. I have a blown v- drive tunnel and a trailer at the edge of Lakeport. Would love to meet up w/ more hot boats on reg basis. If I dont break mine at CFW the week before, i'll bring it. Steve

Last time I went, everywhere my dogs had white fur it turned green (no joke)

The lake was covered in birds like you had to dodge huge flocks. The surface of the lake had billions of floating bug carcuses....

The water was like pea soup. Not sure I want to run that stuff thru my intercooler.

On a positive note: The campground had the nicest hosts I have ever seen, clean too.

Is this normal or was I just lucky?

at times - june is a real nice time for the lake - nice water conditions . i lived up here for years and never went to the lake for the same reason lol - last few years it has been nice .

Hey Steve. I live on the south end of the lake in Lakeport (two miles south of Willow Point). I met up with this guy Brian last month. He wants to get the Hotboat guys together from time-to-time. He knows at least 10 V-drive owners in Lakeport that are interested.

Haha... birds.. like many lakes. They make good bouys. Bugs in a lake. Another common lake thing. Lakes are not swimming pools. Would be nice but they are not. I have experienced many lakes and rivers in Cali, Nev, and Ore. Tell you many of the lakes have their unique touch of nature such as birds, fish, turtles, of yeah, logs, branches, sand and gravel bars, algae, weeds, plants, and bugs. Ooops I forgot the floating rocks (pumice) at Lost Creek Lake in Oregon. Not much compared to some of the sights back east. Check out some of the lakes and rivers there. Might scare the hell out of you. Full of life, living things. And dead as well.

Either way Lucky its cool. I think I am going to anchor my boat by the Natural High during the event. I dont want to trailer it into the city park and get stuck in the crowd trying to get in and out of the water.

Prolly true I would not know, I have only been to one lake once. Darn I spent all this money on boats and I was hoping for big swimming pools to float in.
