Clear Lake. good quality in the middle. fair on a few shores

We are on the low side this year. Not by much, but enough to warm up our lake quicker and cause plant/lake weed problems on the shoreline. You might be given hype to many other stories which is usually our few undesired friends of the media of the bay area. If any of those media types are lurking around this forum. Come on over to Lakeport and talk to the people who do the research on Clear Lake. Dont make up crap for the papers. I will lay down the truth. We have plants/lake weeds. When the lake is at the full mark, the plants dont surface til later in the year. Higher water = less growth/cooler water temps and it dont take much to make a difference on Clear Lake. As of last weekend, the main body of Clear Lake is still at least 10 foot visable. 1000 feet or so past Lakeports shore. Wish we had our water rights. keep it full and treat the plant issues along some shores.

Thanks for the update. I will be up there with the family starting the week of July 11. We have been going to clearlake for alot of years. The weeds don't bother us. We like the calm water and lack of boating traffic during the weekdays.
No Prob. Just make sure you boat west of Konocti towards Lakeport.

The water clarity looks good. We will be staying on the lake in the Lakeport area and like to ski over into Nice. How far out is the weed line ? Thanks for the info. Cant wait to hit the lake. Do I need to get the quaddra mussel inspection again this year?
IO, outboard or V-drive will be fine to get through the weeds. Some places its a few hundred feet others its about a quarter mile. Once past the weeds the water is great. And last but not least, stay away from the other side of the lake (south eastern part).

Still have the mussel inspections going on. cost 10 bucks for a boat.
just got back from Clear Lake an hour ago, it was a pain to get the boat out past the weeds (bad year for the old jet) but once out clean the hand hole and had a great time, we are going to treat the weeds in front of our house after reading the write up in the record bee on friday, I would urge anybody with lakefront to do the same, $100 permit and 300 or so for the chemical, after a few years they say growth goes down up to 90%
