Your "last" sentence says it all. If the USA stayed in the Accord, the energy costs for business/manufacturing here would increase substantially. That alone would move more jobs to where energy costs are lower. It is the same with labor costs. Business moves to locals with the cheapest labor.
The Presidents first responsibility is to look out for the welfare of the country. Trump is doing that, unlike Obama.
:badidea:
You are misinformed.
The energy cost will not increase substantially. Energy users have already moved to other sources of energy such as natural gas and renewable sources.
The future is in technology which has already created many more jobs than the coal industry. The coal industry is also moving rapidly away from needing workers. They too are using technology and automated equipment.
The bigger problem is that the US is now exporting dirty fuel sources. The coal industry is already exporting much of its production to other countries. Therefore, it doesn't change what the cost of energy are here and the earths air still become contaminated.
Due to the Paris accord, most of the big polluter countries actually are moving away from dirty fuels to help their air quality and are doing it faster than they agreed. The US is one of the slower countries in that regard. Moving the direction Trump is taking us will be moving the US toward the stone age.
If you are aware of the history of steel production, and to some extent the automobile manufacturing industry, the US continued using the same outdated equipment for decades and fell behind the rest of the world in quality and capability. It wasn't due to energy regulation, it was due to not staying up with technology. Do you remember the poor air quality in Los Angles or the dirty air on the North Eastern US? It's far from perfect but it is vastly improved due to improving the pollution requirements of cars and factories.
If you truly think the Paris Accord is just about global warming, it isn't. It's cleaner, healthier air to breath, it's protecting the ozone layer which protects all of us from UV rays, it's to protect the environment we live in.
Have you not seen who thinks it's important we should stay in the Paris Accord? It's nearly all of the major companies, it's nearly all of the citizens, It's nearly the entire world.
Who wants us out? Bannon and trumps Energy asshole along with the coal industry. Even Rex Tillerson and Ivanka Trump thought we should stay in.
Everything isn't about money or jobs, sometimes there must be some balances to protect our homes and where we live. (As in environment)
Trump is proving to be dangerous. In his speech on pulling out of the Paris agreement, he said that he was representing what his supporters in Pittsburgh want and not Paris. Eighty percent (80%) of Pittsburgh voted against him. He's not in touch with reality.
This isn't the first time or even the second time he taken off on a tangent and didn't even make sense to anyone.
If what I'm seeing on the various reports, it looks like it takes at least 4 years to pull out of the Paris Agreement, which by the way is not negotiable.
Apparently GOD does work in mysterious ways and protects the little children, along with idiots.
Being misinformed does not make one an idiot, unless one doesn't pay attention to the facts.
