When going into forward or reverse I get a noise as if one of the gears is already spinning and then a catch or a clunk as it engages. Is there an adjustment for this? Also, would like to know if there is an adjustment that can be made on the forward/reverse assembly to make it operate a little smoother the issue is when coming into the dock and idling I'm battling the gears issue and then a sticky forward /reverse and if you pull out of forward to fast the boat wants to choke on itself and sometimes die. Then when getting on plane its almost like it wants to throttle up in increments, its just not very smooth.
Thanks

Need to know what kind of drive you have. It sounds like an Alpha One. If it is, it is supposed to clunk as it goes into gear. There is a dog clutch that is spinning and then "ratchets" as it engages into fwd or rev gear. The dieing is because there is a shift interrupt switch that momentarily kills the ignition when you shift it out of either gear to aid in the dog clutch releasing the gear. It sounds like you need to replace your throttle cable and short shift cable.
