For some reason unknown to me, this DAMN computer is now showing that it cannot connnect in IE to web pages when I hit the back button or when I click on a link. It shows this message in the address bar:

http ://system-guard2009.microsoft.com/block.php?r=8.1

I am running trend micro and this is not a setting for them. I don't have XP firewall or AV running.

WHATS UP>>>>

No AV on a WINDOWS system?? Dude!! Thats like running the boat motor with no oil. You're just ASKING for problems. Hang in there, it can be fixed.

Try installing Mozilla in safe mode w/networking, then go to www.eset.com and download their 30 day free trial AV.....and scan your system.

You got hijacked/page jacked. It could be anything, try malwarebytes.

ANY virus program only picks up known viruses/trojans. If some azzhole writes a new one and you're one of it's first victims, then it will get by ANY virus/malware program. A real firewall might have stopped it, but I doubt it.

I run Iolo and malwarebytes in live mode, along with several root kit scanners - yet the wifey was on MY pewter for 5 minutes and one almost got by. It got by, but thankfully she didn't click on the install portion of the jack.

On a positive note, don't you feel special now? :D

OK, all better now!!!!

Thanks BajaMike for the link. That program identified the main trojan/virus files so I could manually delete them.

Thanks Shueman for the vote of character confidence :(:(:D

HWLaser, you're hard core!! I like it...glad I didnt need to do a sys restore this time

C2, yes I do feel special - a lil sore when I sit down, but special just the same :)st

It took Mike's link, Windows One Care, Trend Micro's System Clean (DOS program), and some experimenting with the Processes list in Task Manager to get this resolved....Still really pissed that TM didn't do its job...The TROJ_RENOS.BHK is still not on their KB list!!!:)sphss
