I have allways wandered how these ran. I had a Hydo for a long time. It was prop driven and understand how they work. Now a jet is another thing. Only thing I can figure is they must be more like a tunnel. Must have a pod and runs on it. Does anyone here run one of these things and how do they run?

With some Major keel work I think they could run quite well, but as they are over 85 you encounter some wierd stuff. PM SangerRat has had an Blown Alky jet hydro.

What I don't understand is how did these things ever get built? What a waste of fiberglass IMO. like Dominator said, Jets just don't work out of the water (the way a hydro is designed to run). Maybe it was just meant to be some-kind of hybrid. A hydro "look" with the safety of no prop. Never really meant for any type of speed basically just looks. Could see it being a good cruiser but wouldn't want to push one myself. Hell, maybe I'm wrong, just never seen a fast one...ever!

I was thinking maybe a cool cruiser as well. But I am not sure with those front sponsons so low and a boat that won't go fast enough to get up out of the water it might be easy to stuff. What ya think?

Harlan Orrin could answer better...I read something about it once and I my memory is correct, I think Dean Willis was experimenting with Sanger on the Jet Hydro setup for drag racing (called Royal Flush). I think they scrapped it either because of instability or lack of speed. In this pic from another thread you can kind of see the intake and a center pod looking thing.

JUst as bwurst1 said I as well have NEVER seen a fast one ever! Obviously they dont work or else you would see them at the track and river but you just dont. I am guilty of owning one but I bought for the parts and motor and sold the hull. They are cool looking on the trailer and in the water but NOT safe at high speeds. Oh well.....cool find though.
