Crower style stack injection MFI

I bought a Crower MFI set up that was listed as being complete, minus hoses, set up for alcohol, completely rebuilt by Kinsler (except the Crower mechanical fuel pump). It also came with a couple of books/catalogs from Kinsler.

Problem's. One problem is that in the books there isn't a plumbing schematic that shows all of the parts that I have. I don't even know if I need all of the parts that I have. A couple of the parts I don't know what they are. I saw a flathead Ford powered altered at the Antique Drags the other day and that flathead didn't have near the components in his Hilborn MFI that I have, so why do I need them? I don't know what fuel he was running. Another problem, typical for me, is I can't make up my mind on what fuel to run. Avgas, E85, 110, and alcohol are all under consideration. Oh yea, 13:1 468 BBC, tunnel jet drive.

I've got countless numbers of people telling me that I am going to have nothing but problems with this set up and that it will never run correctly. ALL of the people that have said that to me have never owned a MFI.

I've gotten a few people to PM/call me and tell me that once it's dialed in I will be very happy with it. ALL of the people that have said that to me have owned MFI stack systems.

Anywho, here's some pics. The first pic is of my MFI, just so we're on the same page. Second pic is a Kinsler drawing of a old method of plumbing a MFI. Third pic is of a "new" preferred method of plumbing a MFI. Fourth pic is of a plumbing schematic for a Vapor Sepearator Tank that I have. Last pic is plumbing schematic for a Jet Selector Switch that I have.

More pics and questions to follow. Hopefully the pics work and aren't too big.

.. One tank,One feed and three returns. THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. M
I have two 11 gallon side tanks, and a 2 gallon tank I was/am thinking of making into a T tank.

If I use the 2 11 gallon tanks, take the 2 outlets (2 saddle tanks) into a Y to the MFI's high pressure fuel pump, do the returns have to go to both tanks? or can I put 1 or 2 returns to one saddle tank and another return to the other saddle tank? (Damn that came out confusing.)

Why 3 returns? One return from the barrel valve/secondary by-pass, another from the main by-pass, what's the 3rd return line?

NOW, when comes to flat out, "lets wring the fu^k out of it"...........THEN..........well, it depends on how good your shit is put together..........I stand on my PS 89 performance, wanna fock with me???..............Ray

Ray, there's not 87 ways to do it, and the way I do it is not "my" way it's been done this way for ages!. The reason you don't need one is because the top of your tank is way above the pump and the fuel level is just about the same height as mine with the surge tank, my cell when full if you remember was below the pump, if I would have had stack tanks I wouldn't have wasted my time making one, I didn't make one just for the fun of it!.............

wanna fuck with me???...
Yeah anytime no problem!... Oh wait, I don't have a boat anymore, SHIT!.. Oh well you're off the hook this time!..:)hand
Is the purpose of the surge tank to make sure the MFI's high pressure fuel pump maintain's a constant source of fuel?
.
Does anyone know what the application would be for a spool that has the numbers 23 stamped on it's shaft? Gasoline? Alcohol? Rough guestimate on HP?
Hi guys, I'm new here, don't have a boat but came here due to my never ending search for crower stack injectors and related items, I remember some guys from ever at the v-drive forums.

If anyone is interested in the original crower instructions, I have the little booklet and the one that came with the shut off valve

Oh yea, if anyone wants to part with crower items such as surge tanks, bypasses etc. please let me know. I would also be interested in a crower pump cover, I don't know which rebuilder mixes them up but I see crower covers (with the cast c in them) on enderle pumps all the time and I have a crower pump with an enderle cover I'd like to replace.

Regarding the number of pump outlets, crower offered pumps with and without multiple outlets, if you had one with only 1 outlet they offered a seperate distribution block to attach the other bypasses
injection is bad ass. Don't give up!
Me? Never. :|err
Sorry to go gravedigging, but this was by far the most information on MFI in one place I have ever found. Amazing and thank you to all involved.

Hotrod, did you ever finish this project and get it to work?

A lot of the info I posted in here was wrong. I ended up selling this particular MFI but I ended up buying another one. I'm currently waiting on other aspects of the project. I'd like to say it'll be running in a month but with the way that the rest of the project has lagged it will be years. :|err
