I saw this on the news last night. And I agree 100% If people want to live unhealthy lives then they can pay the difference for the premiums on thier HI. The $600.00 is a fine if they refuse to do the health screening. CVS want's to have those that have terrible health pay the difference between what a policy would cost for a person in good health and the cost of the premium for one in bad health.

Smokers drinkers and rec drug users should pay more.

On the other hand the company should provide education on proper nutrition vitamins and lifestyle.

It has nothing to do with healthcare reform. It is a strategy implemented by hundreds of companies to encourage their employees to take a more active interest in their own health.

CVS made a particularly bold move by penalizing them. They could have gone the other route and offered a $600 discount for biometric screening, but they chose a harder line.

I have to verify every year that I don't smoke and then get a $600 dollar discount each for both me and my wife.

COnversely, every year I smoke more, drink more, and try to earn more to pay for cigs, booze, and our astronomical health premiums!!:D

This is no different than most of the Obumbler care medical intrusions. There is no law that makes it illegal to lie to your doctor or any other health care provider. If they ask you if you smoke, say what ever you feel justified in answering. If you say no and they catch you lighting up, what can they do? Tell them you just started or you thought they were talking about illegal substances. If the VA doctor asks how many weapons I own, nothing says I have to be honest with him. The executive order was for them to ask. Not for me to be truthful. This is the same thing. Are they going to pay the employees that are truthful a bonus? If not then they should all say they don't drink, don't smoke, and run 2 miles a day, even if they are morbidly obease.

Employees are "asked" to have a mini physical as well as a blood test in addition to the survey to avoid the "penalty". When a corporation employs 200,000+ everything is a matter of statistics. They made this move knowing it would be challenged, but most employees did the test and now CVS has the data to better estimate their risk in determining future health care costs... that come up next month.

It has less to do with "obamacare" as it does with corporate economics.

Try lying to your doctor that you don't smoke and see how far that gets you. A simple blood workup will tell them different. Its done EVERYDAY for life insurance poies. ANNUALLY! Unless you are 18 and just started, they cab even tell you how long and how much you smoke. This isn't the 1800s

Although what you say about making people live a better life may be true. And will probably do a hell of alot better than anything the Gov does. But don't kid yourself this has just as much to do with saving money , as they will make those that have worse self induced health pay higher deductions from thier paycheck for thier HC. And fine those that refuse the evaluation. And yes making people feel the pain of loosing money will go a long ways further to them getting into shape than rewarding them to get into shape. Many will not work for the reward but will to avoid the loss.:D

Every year I tell my doctor I don't smoke and I don't drink. So I guess I won't worry about it. This last visit when I was asked about fire arms, I asked him if he was afraid his malpractice insurance wasn't up to snuff or something. The conversation ended there. He had done his part, he asked.

Except the evaluation will include blood work and weighings and other things that they cannot avoid. Personally I think all business's should do this. It will probably do alot of good for improving the overall health of our population. And reduce HC costs. More than anything Ocare will do.

We offered a $100 gift card for completion of biometric screening and completion of an anonymous health risk assesment. It was all performed by a 3rd party vendor for confidentiality. We had a 37% participation rate the first time which is considered average.

I used my $100 for a new pair of running shoes, that I walk in often.

If you don't mind, can you please explain who the WE are in your post. I am seriously curious who you are talking about with that comment. Did you mean to post WE WERE OFFERED, and THEY HAD A 37% PARTICIPATION?

Great ! Just like 1986 you base whats going on by how you are doing in life . Your in good shape so you have nothing to loose and a morsel to up the moneygain. Believe me people are going to be far more worried about loosing $600.00 of thier pay as a fine for not taking the test or even more for the higher amount of contributions for thier HC. Why do you think you guy's only have a 37% participation rate ? Do myou have a penalty for not taking the test ? Alot of people are going to either get in shape or cough up the dough. And rightfully so.

Once again, it is not about me. It is an illustration of how companies are trying new things to help manage the high-cost of health insurance.

Sounds like DENIAL on your part Rod...

Dont you recall that your messiah was going to lower H.C. costs by 3000% with OlamOcare??? How is that all working out???

Let me guess, its a RIGHT WING CAPITOLIST conspiracy and G.W. is at the root of it all... Right??? hil:)

P.S. It IS about YOU, since YOU put that dick head back in office... You own it, face up to it...

But I thought costs were going to come down if we passed Ocare. Seems that was just another blatant lie from your hero. Never said IT was about you. I said it's funny how you look at things based on how it is affecting you. Once again I will say it. Don't kid yourself. Companies would not be doing it if Ocare wasn't driving up costs. Ocare will be one of the major contributing factors to our next collapse. It's a joke and needs to be repealed and YOU KNOW IT. But you will still stand behind yourt hero. Check this one out. If you don't think this is going to kill the economy you have no clue.
